@DNICE41 True, but the last several years AD was not making sound decisions, so if you are comparing that particular timeframe, I would agree. But overall, I don’t see how Mark Davis has exceeded anything other than Raider Nation’s patience.

I really hated how he dodged the Josh Jacobs question. “He’s the type of player we want to build around.” Not, he is the player we want to build around. How about for the next season we don’t have 90 different O-line combinations. How about we get some defense? And to an extent, I’m not even upset with him, because I liked the off season moves that he did. I’m more so upset with some of the head scratching calls on offense and defense. Like how you going to drop Jones or Crosby into coverage… like ever??? Or how you going to find a winning formula in the first half on offense, and then completely switch it up? Cant blame him for that
@Mike downs you are right this is how it works in the NFL for franchises in the NFL. For instance, the browns, jets, texans, jags, dolphins and raiders. All the perennial bad teams!
@Mike downs You make a lot of valid points. Most of the time its about half that make it back to the playoffs. I am all for building a dynasty. But, in 2018, we get rid of Mack. Now we get rid of Carr. And sadly, how we will probably do Jacobs. I get it, its different management, but tied to the Raiders name. How many free agents do you think will come here if we get that reputation? Do great things, and we will cut you. They could’ve benched Carr game 3 and if we went 6-3 nobody would be complaining. Winning fixes everything. Unfortunately, our team isn’t going anywhere until we get a defense. Hopefully, since Carr is gone, we see a great defense headed our way. I just hope that we didn’t screw ourselves with not having a QB. I’m very excited to see what Stidham does today and am rooting for him, as well as any player that dawns the Silver and Black. But to add to what you are saying, how many first time head coaches came to an organization and cooked. What’s the Jags record right now (I know he’s not a first year coach, but this is his first year with Jags)? I also think the thing that rubs people the wrong was is that we are making adjustments when there are adjustments that don’t need to be made. First half, Adams is getting the ball all the time and they cant stop a certain play. Then second half we never go to it. Another game Jacobs is getting 4+ yards a touch and only gets the ball 15 times. I think that is the problem that people are having. We see the potential. We even see the coach having success, then for no reason we get four drives where we are 1st and 20+. We also see that it took til like week 8 to figure out our o-line. Then press conference after press conference you get JMD showing no emotion, and just like well, we need to do better we need to figure out how to win. No man, you already know how to win, just do it. If the entire first half they showed they cant stop the end around play to Mack Hollins, then keep doing it until they can stop it. If they cant stop Adams on a drag route, keep doing it!! Its like the number one rule in anything. If it ain’t broke.. don’t try and fix it. I don’t feel that is being negative or pessimist. And btw, I think Davis truly wants to win. When he took over, he brought in Reggie and Del Rio. When he had the chance to get Gruden, he went for it. Not gonna lie, I was 16 and finally had access to the internet and could follow the Raiders when Gruden took over, so the inner kid in me was like Hell yeah. Now he brings in these guys. I don’t understand the people that are giving him crap. He obviously wants to build a dynasty. But I do feel the rage when the second half is punt, punt, punt, punt, punt, punt, after have a first half of td, fg, fg, td, td.
@Eric Nave I honestly dont think that is true. With Al in charge, we had a new coach like every year. The very first thing Mark did was bring in a GM. We got Del Rio. And Gruden was supposed to be a 10 year deal! He learned that you need to have a tandem that are on the same page. And that’s what he went out and did. Can you say you didn’t like the moves by Ziegler? I can’t Unfortunately, I can say a lot about what I don’t like about second half JMD. But I do 100% honestly believe Davis wants to do the right thing and build something special.

@MaySpitfire I agree it was the right move . Look at his production . He doesn’t take himself out of games like he has in previous years . He has incentive to not take himself out. He’s out to prove to the league what he’s worth for his next contract. Franchise tag him, pay him .
I would be more trusting of the process if the HC had a track record of winning. I’m still in a wait and see mode with the McDaniels/Ziegler partnership.

Nobody should trust McDaniels until the team starts winning games consistently. He was always going to get more than a year, I just hope that the front office is ruthlessly critical when evaluating the job McDaniels is doing.

Look I absolutely still have faith in Carr. He’s always been humble. Will always put the team before him while also taking blame. Has silver and black running through him. But for Dave not to even mention him as being a valuable player on the team is absolutely disrespectful. Carr could be a problem. But so could any other player on the team. We see how effective the offense can be but that defense needs leaders and playmakers. There were plenty of games where we could’ve won if we just had 1 stop
Dave, can you please explain how this team won 10 games and made the playoffs last year with an interim head coach, Derek Carr, and no Devonte Adams? Is having a worse record this year because of the new coaching and general manager, or is it all Derek Carr? Why the backslide?
That last year was fools gold, get real. This team had/has giant holes in their roster construction due to years of poor drafting.
His record as a head coach with the Broncos was 8-8, then 3-9 when fired. He walked into a team that went to the playoffs.
Again with Raiders, they went to a playoff game before he got there. 6-10 record and tomorrow we play las game of season.
So far that is 17 wins, 27 losses. Maybe he can dial that up with a perfect season next year. I am an optimist…
But even if you want to (I am sure he does) forget the Broncos coaching disaster where no matter whose list you find, he is in the top 3 worst ever for them. Google search worst nfl coaches- and 85% of the time guess who’s picture shows up? His record this year alone has him ranked 2nd worst by most every poll. One ranks him as high as 30/32 saying Sunday is worse than him because it isn’t fair to rank a newbie anything other than worse. Except- how did Sunday vs McDaniels match up turn out?
The Raiders made the playoffs last year (barely) but every announcer, analyst, coach, player, etc that was on tv or radio had one common agreement – the biggest issue on the Raiders was Parker & Leatherwood. The doomed duo between league leading penalties, pressures and sack’s allowed was clearly the biggest offensive issue. Josh came in saying he can fix them. Parker saved his name on the roster by an injury and Leatherwood finally got traded to the Bears who went into trying to train him to use on the DEFENSIVE line because there was jo way he could even ride the bench on their offense.
While coaching Broncos was his infamous quote that he could make a high school QB into an all-pro.
Yet he couldn’t take the Raiders all time highest passer- who already was an all pro and win with him!
He did take Carr who already had the NFL record of most 4th quarter come backs EVER and coach him to another record- the most blown leads in the second half EVER. That is impressive coaching and play calling. Carr set that record after having been through more coaches than any other QB on the same team.
If he does ANYTHING other than guide his chosen boy Stidham to the playoffs next season- he will prove what seems obvious to 80% of everyone watching the nfl as to his ability to deal with a QB. We all know about Brady- but watch any of the interviews or shows and next to Tom and praises out of Tom’s mouth is BELICHECK NOT MCDANIELS!!!
After being fired by the Broncos for what is recorded as the 3rd worst destruction of a successful team in the entire professional football history, he said his biggest mistake was trying to copy / trying to duplicate the Patriots success. Self reflection and a good assessment of self failure is a huge thing- and he nailed it. To hear he would never do that again if given the chance was impressive. Fast forward to Raiders, where the motto “Just Win Baby” was all but replaced by media, amateur and pro all saying “Patriots way, Patriots 2.0, Patriots west.” Is that unjustified? Just because the office staff, coaching staff, and go ahead and count how many actual players are kn the Raiders from the Patriots, which isn’t the worst idea when you are using the Patriots offense, defense, and special teams schemes. Just Patriots Baby- is that the new motto?
Rumors abound as always. Do the rumors of Tom Tuckrule Brady and possibly even Gronk coming to the Raiders.

@zebb Serrano definitely horrible year for Carr. The argument is, the basic play that had different route options that Stiddy had success with 7/10 attempts- was only called twice for DC and he hit perfectly both times. Why didn’t McDaniels call it more often in the 15 games prior but called it 10 times last game.
If you watch DC fan videos- they shiw how poor play calls were and argue McDaniels tanked the season and DC.
Idk, but for someone that is supposed to be an amazing offensive mind- he sure made massive amounts of errors telling DC what to do.
Watching this regime dismantle my team down to it’s soul while Mark Davis sits on his sausage finger hands is just unfathomable. We really scapegoating our franchise QB while McGenius seat stays cool? 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️
