Shannahan was not blamed other than the super bowl so Matt isn’t the problem, of course he could be better but you can’t just ignore that the defense is the problem

Justin Neal-Jones the bears had the ball 35 mins on offense. We had it 25. If you throw the ball and go 3 and out 3 times in a row the defense will never get off the field. They will collapse. That’s why our defense looks awesome the first half and then they slide. They have already been on the field for the amount of time any other teams defense would the entire game. I’m not defending the defense. But coaching is the problem. Why in the red hell would you throw the ball like we did in the 4th after the Gurley TD. We should have been pounding the ball plain and simple. We also don’t have to throw it 20+ yards every time we do. Slants get more 1st downs in the NFL than any other throw. We got Hayden for a reason. The offensive line is a joke. They completely gave up on the 4th. Along with the defense. It’s all a joke and it’s all coaching. We fans are all going to cry when our starters bounce and go somewhere else and blow up. We need coaching. DQ has to go.

Much of it but players should be held accountable too. Overthrown or underthrown balls, dropped passes, missed tackles, poor communication. Their problem is mental. As the games progresses, guys tense up and just don’t perform.

Need to start scouting and researching a new head coach. Particularly an offensive minded head coach.

Steven Juris I would agree with you, but all of the better teams in this conference have a HC that were previously OCs. Smith and Quinn were both DCs and have failed to keep the team consistent. Personally I think Quinn peaked in 2017 after Shanahan left.
@matthew flakes your offense can score your defense cant stop anybody. A new offensive head coach will not stop the bleeding. Shanahan has personally lost 2 Super Bowls now.
Steven Juris you have to hire a good DC, not assume responsibility yourself, then promote from within when that goes to hell. Guys like Pagano, Del Rio, Gregg Williams were all available to take the DC job last year. Bowles would have been the best but with his ties to Arians I knew that wouldn’t happen. Quinn gives his OC complete control of the offense. So when they needed to kill the clock on their second to last possession Ryan threw three passes in a row. A Defensive coach will let that slide but an offensive coach will tell the OC to run the ball if he is not calling plays himself. This teams next coach will be from the offensive side of the ball, I just hope he is in place next year!
@matthew flakes Shanahan wouldn’t run the ball in that situation either. Cost 2 teams a Super Bowl by not doing that. Offensive head coaches will not play it safe. At some point you need a defense. Bill Walsh couldnt win with your defense.

Coordinators too. We need a smart, experienced, winning coaching staff that knows how to utilize those talented players and get the most out them.

You can’t be a specialist when you are trying to coach a whole team. The reason Quinn did so well in Seattle was because he was able to focus his energy on the defense. Obviously, because he was the DC. Being HC you have to divert all your energy equally to all parts of the team. Can’t be a specialist doing that
