If he was on those Cowboys teams instead of Troy Aikman they would of won more than 3 rings
well that is the thing Montana was blessed with a top 5 defense most of his career, Marino only had a top 10 defense for a couple of seasons.
You give Dan the 90s 49ers teams, or the 2000s and 2010s Patriots, and he wins as many rings as Joe Montana or Tom Brady.
Put Marino on Jim Kelly’s Bills teams and he would have won most of those 4 superbowls

Imagine if we quit judging quarterback excellence with rings even though football is a team sport. Marino would no doubt be top 3 all time.
@Bart Simpson ehhhh I mean I sort of disagree. I think he gets the credit he deserves. I mean, some people, like Shannon Sharpe, Nick Wright, etc hate on Brady every time he has a mediocre game, but wins, and then for Mahomes, they say at least he got the win. I’m not saying it’s not a team game. I’m just saying that Brady gets a lot of hate while other players get (like Mahomes) get so much praise.
@Bart Simpson also, I’m not denying he gets lucky. I’m just saying that he doesn’t ALWAYS get lucky. Sometimes, he’s just clutch. That was all I was saying.

@Bart Simpson Yea that is true about postseason, his grade drops like 10 points, but that is really due to good defenses that he faced in the playoffs, almost any qb has worse stats in the playoffs, but yea I get your point, he had some things bounce his way, but also had some things bounce the other way, I guess you could always theorize what would happen but he played good enough to win, with elite grades, thing is I thing he is not better that Peyton or Rodgers by 5 or 6 rings, but I still think he is better, and I am probably biased but I try not to be, I have my opinion and I can’t really prove it, I can make my case, but who is the best CANNOT be 100% proven because you can’t put every player in every situation, I wish i knew what other qbs would have done in Brady’s situation and vice versa, but it is fun to speculate 🙂
@Doctor Burner Yes, but keep in mind that usually good rosters win superbowls, you need a good roster and a good qb that is obviously also part of the roster, To determine how important a player is to a teams success is extremely hard because there are a lot of variables and speculations can go on forever
Also yes last year New England had the best defense they had in a long time but even that wasn’t good enough to make a playoff run, but I wouldn’t blame Brady, In 2019 Patriots recieving corps had the WORST separation out of any nfl team, so they sucked, they really really sucked, Brady came to Tampa now and weapons improved a lot, even though Mike Evans played injured a lot of the season, and Godwin had a hamstring, broken finger and missed some games they have a lot of talent, I think next year should be even better for Brady because they will be healthier and he will gain more chemistry with his guys, can’t wait for next season if you can’t tell by this essay of a reply 🙂

And If dan played in this era he would have gotten more yards and TDS because he played in an era where QBs could actually get hit without the defensive players getting fined for hitting the QBs too hard
@Nick W I agree qbs are way safer now but there was definitely a rule change its not me guessing, if you watch the video that sums up literally the entire nfl you’ll see and watch play 37 on this video thats a flag today

He is better than Brady. Rings don’t make you the GOAT. That’s a team accomplishment. Marino never had top defenses and special teams.

My childhood basically revolved around Marino. Season tix or every Sunday we would be watching in the stands or on the couch.
I agree….there was nothing like Sunday afternoons….Marino in those white jerseys slinging the rock and taking on the world. I get goosebumps just reminiscing about it!!!
Just imagine prime dan Marino playing in today’s nfl he would have madden numbers almost every year especially with all the rule changes
You can have Brady and his 7 rings, 3 of those rings he shouldn’t even have but he has them. I’m keeping Marino,Kelly,Peyton,Warner,Fouts,Aikman and the rest of the great prior generation.
Brady isn’t even better than Wilson, Mahomes, Rodgers, Manning, and Brees.
