I do not want the lions to lay an egg against this team. I think since it’s a Saturday game it will be viewed by more people which is a good thing. Also, I think teams are not under estimating Detroit right now so the Lions have to be on point to win this. Stopping the run will be a big deal.
Thankfully we’ve been top 10 in stopping the run lately

Can’t sleep on Carolina, respectable team with a solid run game and good young defense. However, feel like the Lions match up well with them and if they can continue to shut down the run and force Darnold to beat them I definitely like their odds! Get this done and Ford Field is gonna be a madhouse on New Years Day!!!

@BrosPros what more does Goff have to do to prove to you he is good enough? He just set a franchise record of most consecutive games started without a turnover. He’s top 10 in multiple passing metrics this year. He is not the weak spot of this team. It’s time to move past 1-6 and re-evaluate these players as they’re currently performing.

I’ve been thinking the same thing he mentioned at the end about how Carolina is very similarly built as NYJ. Strength is on the defensive side, good run game, and what he didn’t mention out of respect was a QB known for making mistakes and being generally suboptimal.
Could easily be a sub 40 total game again won in the trenches/ST.

@Solo Mo nope, but it has a similar feel. Good against the pass and good pass rush. But overall, quite a bit weaker
Make Darnold beat us, shut down the run and keep up the pass rush. On offense, we should be able to take advantage of their lack of depth and impose our will with the run game and hit them on the middle when they stack the box
I only want to note, Darnold’s best game of his career came against StinkTricia’s Lions in first start with a lowly Jets.
Lions will have played on Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year day this season. 🦁

You know what I want, a game in our sweet spot of 25-30 points on offense against a good defense like the Jets. What I would want to see moving forward is our defense hold Carolina to under 10. We have too many points allowed on defense and I think this team would be a demonstration of our post season aspirations. I’d like to finish the year with a mid defense and a buttoned up top 5 offense in the league. We rank among the lowest in points allowed, this game should be that end of season push to fix that. Go Lions, get one early Christmas Present for us. The other one I’m hoping for is Miami winning against the Packers.
Really don’t think this is an issue. Gave up 17 against the Jets, 23 against the Vikings with one TD being in essentially garbage time, 14 against the Jags with 8 coming in garbage time, 18 against the Giants with only 6 of those points being scored in meaningful moments, and 9 against the Pack. Only two teams that have put up a lot of meaningful points on the defense in the past two months are the Bears and Bills. The bulk of the points the defense has given up came before they really started to turn it around, and they’ve been 9th in points allowed since the Packers game.
<10 is a tall task against any NFL offense. If they can hold the Panthers under 20 they should be able to win no problem

Panthers’ fan here, and I’ll admit that it is good to see Detroit finally get some respect. I’m looking forward to our matchup Saturday.
It kills me how “they” say the last 3 games are against bottom feeders. Carolina can beat anyone and on any given Sunday a team can be beat if they don’t show up to play.
I’m a lifetime NYer and Giants fan, but I can’t get enough of Dan Campbell and this Lions team. Unless they’re playing my team, I’m bandwagoning Detroit all the way

Curious how many Lions fans, especially ones of over 5 decades like myself, are holding their breath? If we do go on a run, I have no doubt the guys will be prepared and will play their hearts out but again, after 5 decades, I wonder when a striped POS will plunge a yellow-flag dagger (or pick one up on a blatant foul against us!) through our hopes and dreams!
