ElNinjaDeOro $30 million is perfect actually, but they would basically need to guarantee $114 million out of $120 million Bc they can’t offer him lower than Goff guarantees. They also don’t have the leverage because him playing on the tag hurts them and helps him in the future if he is as good as they value him at $35 million or at least $31.4 million fully guaranteed. The value of the qb market will only go up as they cap flattens next year and slowly increases giving them less room to sign good to great players. Signing him now frees up room now and in the future.

@dono be da best Of course, signing a rising player soon rather than later is always good and I agree that 30 mil would be perfect minus the guarantee even though he would need that guarantee to even think of signing for that salary considering how he feels his talent should be priced as. They should have settled on a mid deal before the tag but at least now he can train without holdout and if needed he could play on the tag to show that he’s worth the 40-45 that he wants but by that time he most certainly will ask for more so either way the cowboys company is screwed and will have to dish out some sort of top end money before another franchise does.

That’s 30 but you could manipulate the salary cap to only pay him 18 or less this year and 23 or possibly less next year when the cap flattens. Then, as the salary cap starts to increase by $20-40 million a year his contract will just be reaching 30, WHAT A STEAL! In 4 years, a deal like that will 7th highest annual salary but 1st in guaranteed money won’t even be top
12-15 in qb annual salary and top 7 in guaranteed money. The problem is the exclusive franchise tag is his floor, so the basement of the offer is $31.4 million annual salary for 4 years if he’s not taking a super cap friendly deal for his pride

Fishermen Matthew more than likely he did it for leverage. Now it’s the minimum and same time maximum they can pay him. Also he won’t be holding out so he will be at training camp getting better. Also, he knows the Cowboys don’t want him on the franchise tags, they only did it so they would be negotiating against themselves instead of qb hungry teams. It actually hurts them to possibly give him more money on a 4 year deal or franchise tag that is set no matter if it’s exclusive or not at $37.7 million. Make no mistake, the Joneses are by NO means are in position to make demands. THEY actually (theoretically) need to sign him more than he does.
