As a lifer Cowboys fan in Philly since 1976, my HATRED whether it be the Houston Oilers or Texans is full throttle hate. Anyone that wants to make their name off us, the STAR, is enough for me. The preseason game vs them means something and especially the horrible day that was Thanksgiving 1979. That week, the Sunday before being blown out in Washington and then Hollywood Thomas Henderson our superstar linebacker, THE ORIGINAL #56….WHY do you think Lawrence Taylor wore that number? At that time Hollywood was top 3 athletic talents to ever play for us, well his antics on the sidelines and drugs got him kicked off the team and we were CLEARLY wounded, that was a horrible blow to us, Bob Hayes that week being sent to prison…….the big story on pregame CBS and we were missing injured (one of my top 3 Cowboys of all time Charlie Waters…Too Tall had retired which forced us to make for John Dutton giving too much for him Then the game itself…..Roger dealing with side affects from two severe concussions that season…..yet he threw two beautiful bombs to Butch Johnson but costly picks. Then after in the locker room the horrible Bum Phillips yelling “They maybe America’s Team, but we are Texas’ team” and beside him his son and years later THE WORST COWBOYS HC of all time. His father next to him signing the contract…..Tex Schramm probably rolled over in his grave. First time we lost the Turkey day game since 1973, year I was born. I was CRUSHED that day. I hated and refused to eat turkey for years after that game. Not until that amazing MNF game in 1982 (on YouTube) did I feel better when we DESTROYED the Oilers…in our blue jersey with that stupid jinx that was always BS. IT is my favorite Cowboys uniform of all time and from that game I have the game worn jersey of #87 Jay Saldi our most underrated and top 5 tight ends we ever had…..he did soo much. They are STILL living off that first game ever in 2002. Remember Jerry CRIED when we lost that game. We have only lost to them twice in regular season and that was the last time we played them in regular season. I want an absolute slaughter Sunday. I am not one for style points but I want that this Sunday. Btw, that was the last game we lost in 79 until the playoffs. The Cowboys went on a streak that was needed to win the Division.
