True get a dominant front 7 the battle is already won but we need good coverage linebacker also we have Gap filling down hill runners

Fair argument made here, yes !
But who wouldn’t fear 7 men over 2 all day any day !?!
Because this front 7 theory, (DLine and LB’s), is numerically more to handle than 2 CB’s

HOWEVER Byron Jones is no Jalen Ramsey or even an Xavier Howard
But he still took away an entire side of the field
And CB play is predicated off pressure by the DLine and LB support
So there’s context to be factored into this
DB’s can’t cover for 4 secs if the front 7 is lacking

But all in all true statement gere

    Jingle Bob

It’s not theory. Almost all superbowl winners had a dominant DL and average or mediocre secondaries that you had no te to take advantage of:

    NYG 2007 & 9
    All New England teams
    The eagles 2018
    Cowboys of the 90’s
    Giants under Parcell
    Steelers of the 70’s
    The Raiders of the 60’s & 70’s
    Vikings of the 60’s & 70’s
    Packers of Lombardi era

Plus the 1981 san Francisco team had 4 rookies in the secondary cuz of a fabulous front 7. It has always been this way cuz of the nature of the game. If they keep changing rules to protect the QB & WR while limiting the defense, this will change.

    But,

The cowboys should trade down, then, address their pitiful non-existent pass rush and LB depth immediately.

@Jingle Bob I don’t disagree at all here with what you’ve said
And my use of theory wasn’t a slight or ridicule etc at all

Ik the battle is won in the trenches
That’s why I said even the best DB’s can’t cover for 4 secs successfully
It takes penetration and pressure with gap integrity

When DB’s are feared it’s usually because of pressure on the QB and stopping the run
    That’s the front 7 in a nutshell !

Yet of course 7 NFL players guite larger, (6’4″/240 lbs to 6’6″/320 lbs), and stronger than a 6′ 200 lb CB will be feared/respected far more than 2 to 3 smaller and nit as strong CB’s
