Conquering the cycle of alcohol abuse & absent fathers | The Lee Smith Story | Atlanta Falcons | NFL

When Lee Smith's father, Daryle, turned to alcohol, it drastically changed the course of his childhood, leaving him without a fully present father figure. As Lee transitioned into adulthood, he fell off the rails, making poor decisions and struggling with alcohol himself.
Lee's story shows how he overcame the struggles in his life to conquer his family's generational struggle with alcoholism and become the respected father, husband, and player he is today.
Lee also reveals that 2021 was his last season as an NFL player, and outlines his plan for the future. He hopes that his story and the work he is doing in his community of Knoxville, Tennessee will be a light and inspiration for those struggling from similar situations.

Lee spent 11 years in the NFL playing for the New England Patriots, Buffalo Bills, and Oakland Raiders before retiring with the Atlanta Falcons.
