He was dumb – should have handed the ball to the ref standing next to him. But what does he do instead – lob the ball over the defender’s head. And he was still mouthing off at the defender. Not a good look to the refs which is why they gave the penalty.
@L L you must not have watched it. In no way was he aggressive. He lightly put his hand on the defender and there was no mouthing off. Maybe a complimentary comment but nothing that warranted a flag

@L L it is pretty common for players to toss the ball to the ref like that. It literally landed in the refs hands, and then he dropped it. Especially for a rookie who has thrown it to the refs all season, I wouldn’t say that it was his fault.
