Palmer completed 30-of-45 passes for 258 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions during the Cardinals 34-22 loss to the Seahawks on Thursday. Though the official boxscore says that Palmer also rushed the ball twice for five yards, they were more like two escapes that happened to yield positive yardage as the Seahawks sacked him seven times for a total loss of 54 yards.
Expectations for Palmer were pretty low coming into the game as the deck was pretty well-stacked against him to begin with. Not only is the Seattle defense one of the most fierce in the NFL, but Arizona’s offensive line has been incredibly sketchy this season. Add in the lack of a legitimate running game to lend the proper support and Palmer’s day actually didn’t look that bad. Not to mention he showed good character by staying in there all game, taking his beating like a champ. He’s got a tough match-up next week against Atlanta, so the extra rest over the weekend should do him some good.
