It has been a long time Carl. Not since Antonio Pierce has the Giants had a smart middle linebacker. Martinez is also a tackling machine. A huge upgrade for the Giants.
So this video goes up to say, were taking a Tackle with the #4 pick. Fine we need to protect DJ & make holes for Saquan. Can’t do what Jerry did to Eli at the end, having him run for his life,smfh, get the LT at 4 & C at 36. If we dont trade down, I’m good with these moves.

They could improve the line with a round 2 tackle or center. They don’t have to go round 1 if they feel improving the defense is just as important. Which it is.

Personally I want them to get Cesar Ruiz in round 2 if he drops to 36. And the best tackle they can get at 99. We need a center way more then a tackle. All the Giants have now is Pulley and he’s not the answer at center.

Love you Carl. Thanks. I’m excited about Martinez, and all of the free agents the Giants have picked up. They’re filling a lot of holes. Filling them with young hungry and smart players. A lot of relationships between the new FA players and the new Coaching staff.

People who doubt Martinez’s coverage skills need to see this. Banks does a good job highlighting how good he actually is when he drops back.
Thanks Carl- rookie tape reader here, and have been having trouble
understanding how a linebacker in zone coverage is supposed to grasp threats
as they evolve during a play. Very cool. And Martinez has been getting
criticized for his pass coverage; a lot of put downs on the Giants for signing him-
good to see your positive, well explained, expert opinion.
No hope for the world with ppl like “Tom”
If the GIANTS draft Simmons with the 4th pick he could learn a lot from this guy. Anticipatory skills like this in a talent like Simmons could make for a Defensive MVP.
