@GRANDE Green Gang listen. Darnold has regressed. Still plays like a rookie. Still a turnover machine. He will not be on the roster or our starting QB in 2021. It’s a fact. Sourced respected people already confirmed the jets are just waiting for the medicals to check out.
You don’t spend a #2 overall on a RT, and you don’t move a budding star at LT over to RT to take him at #2. The VALUE at #2 this year is at QB, and QB only. Either take one or get a haul for someone else to take one.

The final call on who will be the Jets quarterback this year will be up to Joe Douglas. Then and only then we will know who will be the Jets quarterback this year. All the pundits aside that is where the call will come from.
If Douglas decides to keep Darnold he should trade down and get more draft choices. But of course that is his call to make.
These “so called experts” kill me really Sewell when he wants to play left tackle and already have bechton who’s not going anywhere. You either take a QB or trade down wow.

@Young Goose yeah they’re all valuable in reality pretty similarly. You don’t want a bull rush up the middle either. But the NFL pay scale says differently. The fact is LT’s go way earlier than RT’s.

Pitts is THE guy I want in this draft. And you don’t spend a #2 on a TE, no matter how good you THINK they can be. Trade out, period. But it’s either to #4 or #8 or later and I’m not sure Pitts makes it that far.

I know Pitts is generational but most of the leagues Top TEs have been drafted after RD1 or not drafted at all.

After todays madness the Jets are not trading down from 2. But i will say a trade with the Broncos involving Sam seems very possible. Sam for Pick 40 and Albert Okwuegbunam or Noah Fant is my dream scenario haha

I don’t know whose option carries less weight, Brooks’ or Kiper’s (maybe Charley Casserly’s). Go ahead and flip a coin, but as a GM, always do the opposite.
I think JD knows that sam isnt the answer as good as sewell is it dont measure up to taking picking the most important position on the team which is a QB sam will hold the team back he just isn’t a good QB

Regardless of how good Sewell is you don’t draft a RT with the second pick in the draft. I can’t say for sure but I don’t think a RT has ever been a top 10 pick.
Even if we didn’t take zach 2nd…why tf would we take a right tackle 2nd overall instead of trading out the pick ,sliding about 4 picks back and still take him, with 2 1st’s and a 2nd from the Falcons??
Besides QB the oline is the most important area in football. Sewell seems to be a locked in pro bowler. Not a jets fan, but I’d take the guaranteed pick and give Darnold another shot. If he sucks you pick a QB next year. Plus I want the niners to get Wilson lol
