Bruce Smith: “How Long do Innocent People have to Suffer?” | One Bills Live | Buffalo Bills

Bills Hall of Fame DE Bruce Smith joined One Bills Live to discuss why he returned to Buffalo to offer his support and efforts to aid those suffering after the mass shooting on Jefferson Avenue in Buffalo. He talked about the healing process he's sharing with the community following the racist hate crime. He continued about the steps we can take to end racism, his visit to the memorial site, and working together with the Pegulas, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell and his former Bills teammates.

Great to see Bruce. Definitely not under this tragedy though. Heart breaking to see the 12 yr old son of one of the victims with his mother at a press conference. The son standing off to the side, palms of his hands pressed up against his face crying while his mother spoke.
While we make a lot of effort to build and provide community events for minorities, it is critical that the white community is not neglected especially the kids who are impressionable. Going east from Buffalo; the state is becoming bitter and feeling forgotten by the state, meaning the white middle and upper class communities. Really need to bring different races of kids together across western New York to lift everyone up. NFL and team camaraderie is a great vehicle for that. Would like to see kid Bills ambassadors from the inner cities meet-up with other kids from white communities. I think Jim Kelly and the Super Bowl Bills did that in Rochester in the 90s. Met the team doing that at RIT. They didn’t have fancy equipment. They just played football with the kids. Jim Kelly, Frank Reich, Kent Hull, Steve Tasker, Don Beebe. It was really informal, by this I mean it doesn’t take a ton of setup to reach out.

We love you Bruce such a monster on the field and a gentle soul off it

Israel Rodriguez

I hope this season there is something on the helmets/uniforms honoring the victims

    Tim Cunningham

    Me also

    raysschoko

Please dont shot yourself in the foot! If this season isnt about football and its about politics we wont win a superbowl! already 180 mass schootings this year! Too much sorrow to play for a superbowl win!

    Israel Rodriguez

@raysschoko it’s about the victims not politics, more specifically the victims in this community.

    John D Cornell

    Just play football

    Israel Rodriguez

@John D Cornell they can do both, honoring the dead doesn’t stop them from playing you know.

About as long as ppl keep voting conservative

    _ Addison

@S B 1982 no he said he used to be a communist but has changed his philosophies

    _ Addison

@D.T. O’Lalee this is just plain wrong.
There was good person with a gun, it did nothing
Problem is who is the “good guy” and who is the “bad guy”
And still problem is distinctly American why ? 1. Our obsession with Guns 2. The ability for him to purchase a unlock kit
    3. The red lining and other policies that lead to a segregated city
    4. Red flag laws that hold no teeth

S B 1982

How long do innocent people have to suffer? We could start by making it easier for law abiding citizens to have concealed carry to stop things like this and what happened in the subway in NYC.

    _ Addison

@S B 1982 there was someone with a gun and it didn’t change the outcome
However if you look at Australia they had Mass shooting and banned guns and look no more Mass shootings

    _ Addison

    @S B 1982 hmm 🤔 what would I rather have a Mass shooter with a Assault rifle or a guy with a knife… it’s an obvious choice
And besides the government in Australia you are referring to is pretty conservative

Matthew Kantar

Wrong. It’s political. Shooter wrote a political manifesto.

    Christian Havens

They are saying it is wrong to be political and people should be ashamed of themselves to make it political. People are not political pawns and we are all human. This is America and America is a multi culture nation and that what make us great. Just love one and another!!

Jamel Redfern

Respect to this panel great conversation on healing for the community city etc…

Jeremy Spencer

The ‘coverage’ is amazing when it fits the criteria, switch up the ‘story’ and watch how fast the ‘narrative’ disappears…

J. Anthony Battaglini

Can’t believe this happened….

    Douglas Gadesi

    Sadly I can 😢

Laurie Gilray

Great respect for Bruce Smith & Steve Tasker. Steve Tasker was right when he said that white citizens need to stand up and say this kind of behavior is not acceptable and we need to stand up to the white individuals who are spreading this ignorance & hatred

John Reed

Hey Bruce where you at an the rest of the black national felony league at did anyone of ya go to Chicago for this past weekend mass shooting naw you didnt cause it was black on black shooting

DESERT VALLEY DOGG

PEACE & STRENGTH TO THE 716!

Brian Freedom

28 people shot in Chicago over this weekend alone, (regular occurence). Has Roger Goodell visited the Bears? Does race of the shooter determine whether it gets propagandized?

Bruce Smith is a treasure
