Broncos Owner & CEO Greg Penner, GM George Paton detail new direction for organization – FANTASY FOOTBALL FAN SITE
Carlos Brown

Iโ€™ve been a Broncos fan since 1987..I have never seen the most horrible and embarrassing season til this season..I hope they Sean Payton as a head coach..

    4channinja DaGoat

@DotAHockeyWizard no. Maybe until 2025. Russ has one more season to prove himself and if it dont work out the owners will have to cut him and face the money consequences. Then we rebuild and get picks. Franchises can be turned around fast just need a very good leader and decision maker

    Ricky Speakman

You should have been there in the beginning

    Scott Baxendale

Why would Sean Peyton want to take on the debacle named Russell 3&Out Wilson?

    Israel Tenorio

Personally I was more embarrassed when we were caught cheating with Josh mcdaniels

    Juls c

Been a fan since 86 my bro I know the pain. They will have to slowly build unless they can find a gem in the draft. Find a Brady in thr later rounds

Joel Stevens

Universally George’s respected around the league as a general manager. And most people both at an NFL level and in the fan space felt that the trade for Russ was good. I still want to see Russ in a legitimate professional system with legitimate professional coaches and a healthy offensive line. There’s been no continuity on the line this year except for at left guard. Top two running backs are gone. Instability at the tight end position. Multiple injuries with the wide receiving Corps this year. We’ve learned that Russ isn’t able to thrive in any system. But I was frustrated that they didn’t hire Doug Peterson last year I feel that that would have been the higher to make. Now they have to make sure that they get the right guy.

@Joel Stevens lmao keep Paton and Wilson you all ain’t beating the Chiefs or even the Raiders for the next couple of years ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

    Ivan Buchanan

Sounds like a bunch of excuses to me. Fire George Paton as well

    J.G

@samuel wallace lmao Broncos didn’t draft Elway ๐Ÿ˜‚ he was drafted by the Colts traded to Denver now I have to laugh at you ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

    J.G

@Curt Afdahl truth is your broncos ain’t beating the Raiders or chargers for years to come either ๐Ÿ˜‚

    Nate

@2ezSniper what happened with Dan Quinn?

I really hope Penner has a “football mind” that he is going to for help and insight as HE moves forward with yet another reboot of this team’s structure. I would really love to hear an announcement that Peyton Manning has been hired to be President of Football Operations. Need someone who KNOWS the game or we will see the same thing all over.

David Stufflebean

No, you should shut it down now so no one gets hurt in the last 2 games. You should be playing 2nd and 3rd team players and evaluating them.

    Sean L

With all the injuries, they have already been evaluating the 2nd and 3rd team players……they aren’t very good, look no further than the offensive line.

Sadly this is woefullyย late in the season for it to actually have any impact for next year because they should have fired GM Paton at the same time.ย  Paton literally gave us the same speech that Hacket gave weekly. While I realize much of this was circumstantially basedย on them getting Aaron Rogers, however, to do what they did with Russel Wilson’s contract prior to seeing him play never made sense to me as a business owner myself especially owners that have deep pockets.
ย ย

Now maybe the new ownership group put pressure on Paton to do this but even if they did, Paton is the football expert in the room that is there to protect them from themselves, otherwise, they would just “Jerry Jones” it themselves.ย  With no new GM, it is too late with the draftย being so close to hiring a GM now as the draft is such a large part of the job.ย

I get that people learn from their mistakes and sometimes you are money ahead by keeping someone instead of firing them.ย  However, the combinationย of the cost and timing of Wilson’s contract would lead me to fire both a month or two ago.ย  Look how much better the Panthers played by moving an on-staff coordinator to head coach but even if that did not work you now have the information you did not have to make better decisions for next year.

The Waltons are essentially paying an additional quarter of a billion dollars now for the team and it is going to cost them 100’s of millions in revenue for the nextย 10 years trying to turn this around unless Wilson becomes humble and is open to coaching. I became a Broncos fan in the first place out of frustration with the ownership of the LA Rams in the ’80s and so far there is no indication for me to trust or like this ownership group especially seeing how they are still stoking Russell Wilsons ego over being honest with the fans that he is either a one system style QB or is physically unable to play due to his hightย and being to slow to create players with his legs.

I am moving on to a team with ownership that respects the fans enough, to be honest, and not simply give us all the same BS excuses. Pat Bowlen, you were the best and are clearly not replaceable by people who have a lot of money and no intellectual integrity with the fans.

Reset for another round. Turn this team around and compete again. Go Broncos!

Bring in an OG to coach, we canโ€™t afford another first time head coach right now. As crazy as it sounds if Russ continues to play like this for the remainder of the season, bring in another QB and have him fight for a starting spot. He could be the worst QB in football at the moment just because he got the money doesnโ€™t mean he deserves to play

The McAdams Minute!

Iโ€™ve been a Broncos fan my whole life. I love this team and always will. I canโ€™t fault the decision to bring Russ in. Unfortunately itโ€™s been a bust (congrats seahawk fans better do something with those picks) and in my opinion we just need to get a coach that will help with a rebuild and creating a culture of toughness and grit. Implode everything now. Even with no picks or cap just eat and restart. Let some vets go for something and then build from the ground up

    Juls c

You are correct. Unfortunately it will be a slow build unless they can find a gem in the draft like the pats got brady

    John-Paul C

The trade was one thing – i think Paton signing Wilson before it was necessary to the type of deal it was is the near unforgivable part. Teams can make mistakes all the time with draft pick trades, but the contract locks Denver into Wilson and its crippling CAP hit.

Vu Quach

Glad to see Denver media ask both GM and Owner the tough questions that includes Russ. Time for a new experienced voice and hopefully Russ hears the criticism and balls out next year. ๐Ÿงก๐Ÿ’™

    akinasgreatest01

Pretty late imo. They should lve asked these questions during the 11 losses

    John-Paul C

Confidence is #1 for a QB…and I worry Wilson’s confidence just got blown up to an unrepairable level.

Zayn

I wish the cardinals organization showed as much dedication to their fans and decisiveness as the broncos organization

Broncos country fire every one

The issue with Denver boils down to regression. Though the defense has been the only aspect of the team that showed up this year, the players in general don’t respect the GM or the front office or top brass, especially in their “processes” or decisions at any level. Paton speaks of accountability, but he is not being held accountable for his bonehead decisions. I believe if Hackett got canned and he was Paton’s choice for head coach, he should have been shown the door as well. The decision to extend Wilson’s contract before seeing what Wilson was bringing to the table also lies solely on Paton’s shoulders. For that he should have been canned. Wilson being a washout this season is a gross understatement. He doesn’t have the ability nor the attitude necessary to command an offense, much less the locker room. I keep hearing about Paton’s credentials and mid-range successes, but realistically we don’t need someone at that position who is just as ineffective as John Elway has been. We need a GM who can truly adapt to a team’s mindset as well as build upon the franchise’s once dynamic roster potential. The offensive line is a joke and that is not just obvious this year, but has become commonplace. There is far too much animosity and lack of cohesion within the roster. Wilson needs to be benched for the remainder of this season and Denver needs to do that once again after the first month of regular season football next year if this rookie style of play persists. Paton should not be allowed to make any roster, coach, or contract decisions beyond this point, as he has consistently proven inept at all three. It’s time to get serious Broncos country, otherwise we are going to continually miss out on the playoffs and fall even further behind the curve.

BRONCNUTZ

Never in my life living in Colorado has the popularity and fan interest shifted from the Broncos to the CU Buffs. We are at that inflection point right now, in my opinion. The Denver Broncos have never seen a lower low. Even the cheerleaders are busted. I myself will never leave this team, I can’t because I’m way to invested. Many will.

Mo B

“They’ll go after Sean Peyton with a record breaking bag of money and a willingness to give Peyton unheard of contract guarantees. That strategy will either work well or put the organization deeper in a hole.

Tarun_ not

We need things to better the training staff, way too many leg injuries this season

Joshua Haslett

Paton: โ€œItโ€™s my fault.โ€ โ€œWe wonโ€™t make excuses.โ€

Also Paton: โ€œWe lost a lot of one score games.โ€ โ€œWeโ€™ve had a lot of injuries.โ€

Paton next to Penner looks like a joke and way in over his head. Paton looked impressive when he was with other people in the building who shouldnโ€™t have been in their roles. Next to a real executive he sounds like a teenager. Fire him!

John-Paul C

What Paton gave in trade for Wilson was a mistake in hindsight – but very forgivable. Putting the team in such a financial bind, and stuck for years, when it wasn’t even a necessity is the move Paton should be most ashamed of. It was the kind of deal FTX would have made.

Legionmartin

Like the great coach Parcells stated “You are what your records says you are”. The problem is the talent on this team has been overrated. Our WR’s would only be as high as No 2 & 3 receivers on most teams. Years of neglecting the OL and not drafting OL high enough in the order.

And the Pink Elephant in the room, the Broncos have more injuries than just about any other NFL team. Who is the strength and conditioning coach and what is he not doing?

Jo01

Russell Wilson is the biggest problem. They should have waited to give him a contract, now stuck with him for at least 2 more seasons.
