Teams with potential to have a come up like the 2001 Patriots:

Los Angeles Rams
New York Jets
Houston Texans
Miami Dolphins

– Rams already have a winning culture in place. They need to get back to fundamental football and stop playing to appeal to fans. Move the chains and get first downs. Don’t worry about touchdowns. Control the clock, and the touchdowns will come. They have all the talent in the world. But they live in LA, and that’s corrupting some of the players. It’s like the Dallas Cowboy effect, where players don’t go the extra mile. If anybody can lead a team to have world class discipline like the 01 Patriots, it’s McVay. And they also need to add a bunch of veterans that have won before, to the team.

– Jets have the same firepower as that 2001 patriot team. Everybody counted them out, then they start building this momentum that nobody thought they had in them. They’re like a 9-7 team that underperformed to get good draft position, but now jobs are on the line so they start playing to their potential. Hire Matt Patricia or Brian Daboll, Draft Penei Sewell, then look for a QB that’s under the radar. (Kyle Trask, Sean Mannion, Jake Fromm, Marcus Mariota, Carson Wentz). Sam Darnold is your gap QB. The identity of this team should be based on grit, defense, and smart play.

– Texans have a group full of team players, not individual talents besides Watson or Watt. They have a solid RB committee similar to the 2001 Patriots. They should look to hire Daboll (strategist) who was actually on that patriot staff Or hire Eric Bieniemy (motivator). Then you either draft a young back up with potential (Trask looks promising), or you go with someone who has skills but hasn’t been given a shot (Mannion, Nick Boyle, Fromm, Rudolph) When the time comes, Watson will either demand a trade or he starts to underperform. This organization has the makings of a selfless team, eliminate the superstar (Drew Bledsoe/Deshaun Watson) and thrive.

-Dolphins Brian Flores is the closest to being the next Belichick from his coaching tree, and he’s got a young team going for him. Continue to grow the defensive personnel, and allow Tua to develop, a very mature leader for his age. Ceiling for this team is a world class defense, and make winning plays on offense.
