His pressure all game was outstanding. Darwin missed a crucial tackle too
They need another big body instead of Tillery, he doesnt fit scheme.
Tillery is a non factor. It wouldnt matter if he’s on the field or not. Waste of a 1st round pick

We beat ourselves today, after today I can’t see us winning the first round of playoffs. Teams in the NFL are too good, we must be more established.

They also give up big plays on defense. Yeah, you are delusional. I’m a chargers fan too, been since I was 14. We will finish 8-8.

I miss last years big plays, Herbert mad me live watching our offense and now I struggle to watch him look lost and held back
Every defensive coach in the league saw those big plays too. What do you think they’re #1 priority against the Chargers offense is? Stopping the run? Containing Justin Herbert on the edge? No; it’s stopping the big play. He’s one of the best in the league at it – so it’s what they focus on.
They have a bunch of receivers with 4.6 speed. Drafted a guy that’s generously 4.6 in Josh Palmer and cut 4.3 Tyron Johnson.
I will add that Herbie struggling is still better than half of starting QBs in the NFL, which is encouraging. But like we all know, we don’t win many games without Herbie playing well because of that defense.
@Patman494 sure you could have the greatest coach calling the plays but if you aren’t practicing and prepping your boys correctly that would still fall on a defensive coach. Just like the offense who peeps them who sets it up? The coaches right
Sucks because with what we’ve seen over the past month, I think we need to adjust our expectations for this year’s team. We can beat anybody, but not when we can’t get out of our own way.

There was just a lack of consistency. When Herbert was a little off the receivers did not make tough catches and when he was on the receivers missed some too.
The defense need to figure out a way to limit these penalties.
After the loss from pats, we apparently practiced so much that we beat the eagles the next week…then took some days off..I guess we didn’t prepare enough for this one…smh.

Lombardi is not the answer for herbert. Herbert has a cannon but he’s being restricted from using it. He’s got to let herbert loose

We looked scary on offense the first 5 weeks. What happened ? It looks so stale, and there’s maybe 3 passes a game that are over 20 yards now. Get some speed at WR and Unleash Herbert
did they even have 3 passes over 20 yarders in this game ? Not 1 pass was over 50 yards , I think ?
As soon as they cut Tyron Johnson 4.3 I started to panic. Keenan Allen 4.6, Mike Williams 4.5, Josh Palmer 4.6.
Teams adjusted their game plan for our offense and as always joe lombardi keeps calling the same fucking plays , watch 3 chargers game and you will be able to identify plays before the snap just imagine what an nfl coach can do

Telesco has to go. This team is 65-71 since he became general manager in 2013. We were 95-65 under A.J. Smith. Telesco doesn’t know how to build a team that can make key stops on defense or pick up the tough yards on offense.
@James yes probably because he wanted to keep his job and not quit? And yes rivers experienced success at points during his very long career? He was consistently a top 15 QB in the league but not good enough to elevate mediocre rosters or get you over the hump. Herbert is that good. And our roster is better than mediocre.

@jamison schumaker I take no pleasure in this. I’ve just seen it way too much over the years, and it’s frustrating as hell. This team will waste Herbert’s career, just like it did Rivers’, if it doesn’t get rid of Telesco. We need a general manager that can build stronger teams on both sides of the line.
I’m simply seeing this: Lombardi as OC is not the right guy for our offence, play calling is too soft & NOT right for Herbert, defense needs work big time (draft major defense next draft) & become much more physical/nasty!! New offence & coaches is understandable to work through & we’ve become middle of the road type of a team. 9-8 is the record I predict. Changes are still needed.
I think we need some pieces at corner but that’s it for absolute needs. We need to solidify the right side of our line and we need an athletic receiver tyreek or even DK or AJ brown type. If we can get play calling right on offense and get Justin some more weapons I think we already have the pieces on defense necessary and Staley can make them an average to above average defense. We gotta be steam rolling teams
I was super excited about our D with the hiring of Staley but it’s laughable how many 3rd and long plays we give up. Linval is good but not great and Joey Bosa is becoming a non factor off the edge (he runs by the play most of the time)
We had to speedy receivers last year…they cut off the speedy guy that can catch and somehow kept Guyton who drops passes
@four_bet facts I felt like Johnson not only had better speed, but ran better routes and had better ball skills. Literally just better all around
Been saying this all season long. We need more explosive deep plays. We have a Ferrari in Herbert, but is being used like a Camry. If Herbert doesn’t have long bomb throws in a game, it kills momentum. Come on OC get creative. Don’t waste Herberts talent.

27 years as a fan and it feels like its the same every year. We have great talent but its wasted. Head coach is refreshing but he needs better coordinators. Our defense has studs but we look soft and unable to stop anything. Our offense i feel is being held back and limited to what they can really do. Every year the Chargers lack an identity as a team, great on paper but always middle of the pack. Im a season ticket holder and its rough. I believe Staley can bring this team up but he has anchors holding him down.

In his first couple of games he coached to win thats what has been the difference but sad to say it seems he is reverting to what all other charger coaches have done and thats play it safe, but I’m hoping he’ll get back to what he was doing.
We need a elite head coach…we keep giving opportunities to guys that have never been a head coach and it’s back firing on us
@Zo Wattz All good coaches started new at some point, I think after a 2nd year then we will tell if we have a good coach or another let down.
Lombardi is not the oc for herbert! He calls way too many short passes/slants and screen like Drew Brees is still the qb. News flash Herbert can actually throw deep and Lombardi never dials up plays farther than 20yards. Another thing is we need to get Allen back to being WR1 cause right now Mike Will is playing our WR1 spot and it worked for a lil while but hes not elite like allen who can beat the best corners in the game! More deep shots and more focus on allen ! Allen was Herberts favorite target last year and it worked . Now he barley throws to Allen in this offense!

So I agree but I understand why we’re doing short passes….we have a weak right side o-line filled with back ups….quality back ups still…but guys that fill minutes for starters not the other way around….can’t risk dialing up long plays that take longer to develop only to get justin hurt.. that’s what happened with Joe burrow. The sad thing is Brandon Staley is genius at gameplaning….but it’s like he always says.. “ITS ABOUT EXECUTION”
Keenen Allen is clearly the number one mike Williams needs to step up he’s barely a factor. We need to work williams into the offense more. Allen is getting all the receptions
