Thought we had something special. And in the most embarrassing way may be out of the playoffs.

    Robert D.

@William Walton You want a blessing in disguise , FIRE Swing Pass Joe [ OC ] , start there ! If we can’t stop teams , then lets try to out score them ?20 + points in todays NFL isn’t going to get you no wear .

    William Walton

@Robert D. well I think Lombardi can grow from this too. He needs to grow. I would like to see him get one more year and evolve…

    Ben Garcia

    Robert D. You
    You

    Robert D.

@William Walton Joe HAS been with the Loins , wasted [Matt } up there , been with the Saints and the last 2 years I get ? BUT, lets NOT lose the fact that it’s S. Payton that runs that ship ? Now here . What I’m saying He [ JOE ] has had more time then a LOT to learn ? And I just do NOT see it , time to move on ?

    William Walton

@Robert D. you maybe right BUT I think that next year he is truly on the clock. If the offense isn’t more dynamic then it’s a wrap…

Matthew Burns

That was the most chargers thing I’ve ever seen. Beating KC at Arrowhead seems like a lifetime ago. It’s like we’re scared of success so we throw opportunities away.

    d.Balbas

On a day Burrow throws for 500+ yards and 4 TDs.

    Zennofobic

there’s an actual word for it now… it’s “Chargering”

    Zennofobic

which I just added to Urban Dictionary look for the definition in a few days haha

    HellKaiser

    @Gold Tau gtfo raider fan

Ethan Diaz

Our severe lack of depth was totally exposed in this game. Granted, covid did wipe half of our stars out, but on the other hand it shouldn’t be an excuse. I still believe in Staley and Herbert, but its games like these that make me worry that we won’t be able to get over the hump down the road

    Xavier Thompson

    Couldn’t have said it better

    Jason Longoria

    Our defense sucked all year

    Ian Adam

Hey its his first year as our head coach. If we make the play offs or not I consider this season a huge improvement over last couple. I’m sure he will sign a few depth players in off season and next year will be even bigger . The one major issue I have is the offensive play calling. I feel like after our 4-1 start the play calling seems to have dipped a lol. In short I’m overly optimistic for our guys in the next few years .

    Mystical Murray

@R C we do have serious problems on defense. our only good players are bosa, derwin, asante, jones, tranquill, and kyzir. when those players aren’t playing our defense falls apart. and when their backups are also out? we’re screwed.

    chargersina

I can’t stand his playing. Totally clueless. He just wants to bull rush the quarterback all the time This year he got there a few times but defensive lineman needs to stop the run first and he really sucks at that.

A- DUB

Lmao did we make them punt one time ?! Lmaoo such a joke. Worse loss I’ve seen since 0-15 browns game

Finesse Wrld

This upcoming offseason I just want to hear the chargers signing defensive players 😤

    Robert D.

    @EkelerFan30 Maybe you can’t READ English , then ?

    Robert D.

@Christopher Grieb Fouts didn’t play much in 1977 , James Harris did ! Contract issues , maybe YOU should check into it more ? Also that defense DID get much WORST , after 1979 ? Fred Dean moved on to the 49ers . Gary big hands Johnson & Louie were getting older , too ! 1979 was our 1st play offs VR the Oilers , with NO Earl Campbell and we lost , other play offs would come after that , too ? But , couldn’t beat the Raiders at home , when they went to the Super Bowl VRS the Eagles , who , I feel we would have beaten , if they had gone ?

    Robert D.

    @sam wroblewski
I was referring to Dan Fouts & this OC wouldn’t see eye to eye and would just not got along ? This Offense [ COULD ] be better then Fouts , if they would let the kid loose some , I can see that part ! BUT, unlike this kid , Dans hands were NEVER tied .

    Robert D.

Fine , fix the DEFENSE i get that , fix the OL some more wouldn”t hurt either ? But, keep this OC next year & lets see how that works out ? 3 years would be gone , then & Herbert would be heading into his 4rth year OR last year of the Rookie deal ? They could pick up his 5th year , but , it starts to get more higher then ? In other words we are running out of LOW money time, then ? Mahomes got paid , what do YOU think Herbert’s going to get , then ?

    Blaze Reacts

    Yes we did

Ceez B

Staley treated Mills like Mahomes/Brady and played deep coverage the entire time giving him AN ETERNITY to pick apart our covid-depleted defense… LEARN TO BLITZ ROOKIE QBs. Blitz them, hit them, pressure them, put hands on them, they will likely make mistakes. We literally gave him the entire day to decide where to go. I can coach better than Staley. I don’t get it, I just don’t get it. Shameful loss. Coaching staff exposed today.

    Randomness (Music)

Texans fan here, Mills is very good against the blitz, so thats why there was no blitzing

    Original One

Point is Staley has to learn how to adjust.
I totally agree it was frustrating to watch

    T_ MO Sports Cards

@Original One exactly like why isn’t anyone talking about how he hasn’t change anything to stop the run like I get it we don’t have the talent as some say but like you can scheme ways if he’s such a defensive guru. Like at what point do they change the scheme.

    Original One

    @T_ MO Sports Cards
The only keeping me from losing faith in him is that it’s his first season and I’ll be patient with him and also we will have plenty of cap space this upcoming season for Staley to choose his defensive style players.

    T_ MO Sports Cards

@Original One I agree he got Derwin back to a pro bowl level and nwosu and white are looking like studs

BRose511

Games like this just hurt my soul. I have such high hopes for this team and super bowl thoughts then we turn around and lose a game we should have won by 20 even without mike, eke, and joey

sjk

We have a pro bowl starting qb and this team now needs help to make the playoffs. Think that pretty much says everything about where the problem is. Just think what his numbers would be if he had a real NFL defense that could get off the field sometime. He would have 4 or 5 more possessions a game. This defense has maybe 4 guys, 2 of which are based on future potential, that should be here next year. Didn’t think it was possible but this years d may just be worse than last years.

    Mac180

@Christopher Grieb Right, and I don’t any of us will ever get over Marty, especially with that high powered Bolts team we had in the 2000s. There was no reason to fire Marty, we were on the cusp of a SB whether it was Drew or Phil behind center, and with #21 in the backfield, we were stacked on both sides of the ball. Still baffles us how AJ thought Norv was the suitable replacement.

    Christopher Grieb

@Mac180 Will absolutely NEVER get over or forgive the entire SPANOS clan for that. I don’t use the word “hate” lightly, but, it’s fair to say that I HATE them – with the intensity of a billion white hot suns. Too, this franchise has been built in the image of the Colts – don’t forget where TT came from; they play the same uninspired, soft brand of defensive football those Indy teams played – and it’s all due to TT. I cannot wait until these shitbags sell the team.

    Mac180

@Christopher Grieb I agree Bolt fam. Speaking of which, I’m not sure if this is true or not, but I read somewhere Bezos was looking to buy the team, and relocate them back to SD with a new stadium. I would definitely support that, especially if it means bringing them home where they belong, sure, L.A. is a much bigger market, but they will never embrace the franchise like we do. I’m with you on the Spanos, they’ve been our biggest thorn in the side forever.

    A- DUB

Makes sense why belichick invests in defense all the time

Kexin

What an epic failure. This coaching staff have a lot to answer for. If you can’t beat the Texans with your season on the line then this team deserves to watch the playoffs on the couch.

    Rich Butler

Yes, they proved they have no business in the playoffs. not really sold on this coach. we have to remember he was hired by the spanos clan.

    Robert D.

Agreed ! OC, needs to be FIRED , just like last years years BAD OC was !

    James Nava

Agreed they are not ready for playoffs

HaezeusYT

Any long time chargers fans starting to get that usual feeling that we usually go through whenever we’re supposed to be good but just for the love of God can’t seem to just win. Especially bad teams. If it isn’t special teams its defense. If it’s not defense we arent healthy. If we’re healthy our coaching is trash!! There’s never a light at the end of the tunnel as a chargers fan

    Vato

    That feeling never leaves bruh

    Robert D.

And like MOST years of the past , it’s BEEN the same song & dance ? last near perfect game I remember was the Packers win in 2019 , 2 years ago !

    Courage the Cowardly Dog

Yeah, I don’t understand it. It’s been this way forever. Even through multiple coaching regimes and entirely new rosters. The curse endures. And it’s only the fans who feel it.

    HellKaiser

@Gene Dulay San Diego is still a winless city. Remember that.

Michael G

There is no excuse for such a ridiculous loss. The D keeps giving up ~180 yards rushing and this time Rex Burkhead looks like a Pro Bowler!

    Killerx1893

As a raiders fan , Rex is actually a good player , he fucked us up last year

    John Davis

@Killerx1893 when he was with the Pat’s he was average.

    savajo

The Chargers make a habit of making teams that they are favored by more than 10 look like really good teams.

    Lois Lane

The Offense sucked too. Turnovers, 3 to Texans 0

5rozone

Let’s face it and I love my chargers, but it’s over for this year. 🤦🏾‍♂️🤧

    Robert D.

100 % agree & if it isn’t , we DON”T belong in the play offs with this SH#TY playing ways .

LA SuperChargers

There’s something terribly wrong with this team. I’d love to say we’ll get them next time but a loss to a 3-11 team is inexcusable. Shame on us and this whole organization

    Joey DiGiovanni

Shame on the Defense and the NFL really. I wish we could see a breakdown of all the players on the covid list this year that we’re placed into protocol for simply being “exposed” and not even being positive. Covid season 2.0 has been terrible. Just as bad as our horrendous defense when DJ and Bosa aren’t in the lineup.

    Chargers4life

Most of the starters were out due to covid or just an injury but losing to the Texans is just sad

Fabio Vellozo

And now, that FG we didn’t kick on half time against the Chiefs hurts even more.

    Jorden LaFortune

I was there in person it stings even more 🥺😭😭😭

    Peter Salgado

@Brad Watson I still believe in Staley it’s his first year and next year I am feeling optimistic about Super Bowl 57

    Tony M

What about the opening kick off when the returner tripped himself? Or the tight end who had the touchdown but knocked his self out?

    B Rich

@Andre Castillo it has also lost us quite a few, he needs to start using analytics on how it effects our whole season if we don’t convert it.

He’s too confident and forgets that other teams can still catch up!

Our record was great, 8-6 all he had to do was stay conservative, no point risking anything, when we are in prime position, I understand being aggressive to get a good start in the season but now he’s just playing himself

    Fabio Vellozo

The point is, in analytics, you measure the chance of scoring against the chance the other team has to score, in case you miss the opportunity. At Half time, there was zero chance of getting the Chiefs to score. The numbers don’t make sense there. Mistakes happen throughout the game, but I believe that one decision was not well thought. I can live with the others.

Bernie B

We’re 4-5 since the bye week. From 4-2 start to barely being able to match those wins in 9 weeks of football. I hate saying it but it’s just the same old chargers just putting our fate in the hands of other teams. It’s so hard to keep a positive outlook when losses like this happen to us every damn season.
I didn’t even finish watching that garbage this team put on film today. That was embarrassing. We’ll see what next week brings I guess.

    Robert D.

Broncos & you can BET , they will bring there A game for us , NOT lay a EGG like they did VRS the Bengals & Raiders !

    Lyman Ellsworth

Amazing how this happens every year, total collapse.

Loanguy619

Losing to a 3-11 team when it counts really reflects the condition and uphill climb for this team

    connor contreras

@Joe bezo lmao dawg just stop

    Mac180

@Joe bezo Herb beat Burrow head to head already. I like Joe, but Herb can do everything he can and is a lot more durable than Joe is. We’re good at the QB position for years to come.

    Antonio Nielson

@Joe bezo Didn’t Herbert beat Joe?

    Mac180

@Joe bezo Doesn’t matter, that’s one game. He didn’t do that against us, and our defense isn’t anything to brag about. Herb’s stats are still better than Joe’s despite his 500+ yard passing game.

Blaze Reacts

God, such a disgusting loss . Possibly the worse loss I’ve had to watch considering personnel and the importance of that W they gave up. Searching combinations to be successful in week 16

    Brad Watson

Yep Staley is still searching for the right combo,he’s as bad a coach as I’ve seen in many years

Nick T

Sat at the 50 yard line 10 feet away from the chargers can’t believe this game so horrible. The team on sidelines had no sense of urgency till 10 mins left in the 4th

tubenachos

One of the most disappointing losses in franchise history. That is one of the worst defenses I’ve ever seen. I thought Staley was a defensive specialist?

Manatee805

I will say one thing! This coach is the first of many from the chargers actually said they lost due to his lack of coaching and I commend him for that and I believe he will rally this team to come back and go as far as possible for this season

    BudaOnThePick6

You Ain’t Lying That’s A Big Big Step For Us As A Organization! Bolt Up! New Coaching Staff, Young Qb, Lack Of Depth… all this comes with time we will be fine in the future

    Manatee805

@BudaOnThePick6 yes I agree, I see us in the Super Bowl within the next 5 seasons if we keep Staley as our head coach he’s not afraid and the fact that he shows the players he is confident in their ability to perform is something most chargers coaches have never done.

    azma775

I actually don’t put all the blame on Staley he doesn’t have the pieces he needs to truly run his defense . We’re just not that talented on defense

    BudaOnThePick6

@azma775 Yeah We Deff Agree But Just Being Bold Enough To Take Some Accountability As A Coach Is Something We Haven’t Seen… It Will Make Our Whole Organization Have To Step Up, Players Included.
