Pats were in Salary Cap hell last year, and would have been this year if not for some COVID opt-outs. I mean, you could say he mortgaged their future with some of their big Defensive signings a few years ago (Gilmore the biggest one), though it did get the Pats one more SB ring in the 2018-2019 season.

But since WRs and TEs are expensive, there’s no way he could have done anything on that front this year.

What I will ding him for is his drafting of late. They are getting nothing out of their young players.

Considering they’re barely even using Izzo, i’d say…offense is as non-existent as ever.

yes the defense and Bill Belichick. Tom Brady would do the exact same with that receiving squad. He would not make the playoffs last year if the defense werent all time great gave him 3+ turnovers a game and many scores even from special teams. Defense struggling this year cuz all the opt outs. Except for Super Bowl LII they were fcking clutch in Super Bowls and also in regular playoff games and season games espacilly in crucial situations. They were always be able to create crucial stops and turnovers
