@Walter Ross You may have a point. This is how they lost to Chicago with Lance, not Jimmy. So it becomes hard to tell from the outside like we are.
Along the same lines, I’m, starting to think that neither Russell Wilson _nor_ Geno Smith are truly any good & only Pete Carroll’s outstanding play-calling is responsible for either’s success. Again, we’re on the outside. But…
The Broncos played a completely useless soft zone all game in week 1 even though the first Seattle reception showed that this was The Wrong strategy. No Bronco was even in the camera frame as a Seattle receiver, standing stock still caught the slow-floating pass. So did the _next_ receiver. So did all of them.
Smith continued hitting only standing still receivers until last week (hitting Lockett at least twice in full stride. Those were things of beauty).
Whereas Wilson looks like a lost child even coming off the field to ask the HC what to do on 4th down in week 1 & not knowing how to run plays himself (passing on 4th & 1 late with the game on the line).
Anyhow, you’re likely right as this preceded Jimmy coming back into starting. (I’m just getting back into the NFL after a long absence, so I don’t have the recent past to observe). Either way though, it’s going to spell trouble.
Think Shanahan does this for the odds-makers?

@Choose Carefully I watch a lot of Shanahan’s pressers. You can hear it in everything he says. He’s constantly talking about not taking anymore risk than is necessary to win and reiterating that a win is a win. He was the OC in Atlanta when they blew that lead in the Super Bowl too. It’s just his mentality. You can’t deny his ability to exploit weaknesses in defenses..because when it’s needed he draws up and calls some of the most creative plays ever. And it’s hard to predict any play the 49ers run because the scheme and pre snap movement is nearly identical for a huge variety of plays. But sadly, he sees no purpose in winning by 30 points, and the 49ers have lost games because of it…or been ahead for the whole game and then gone down by one score late in the 4th and needed to have a game winning drive for a game that shouldn’t have been close in the first place.

corner stats are weird. He only gave up 1 in single coverage but he was the closest defender on the other 5. Ur right tho hes bounced back after the Rams game
