There are risk in every play true.but you had 4 downs to make that risk instead you threw it away with 1 risk that you know running the ball was winning for you.

🗑 play calls. Ranked 3rd for Rush yards as a team and you throw on a 2nd and goal.
Anything other than, “we should’ve ran the ball when we were averaging 6 yards per carry with 2nd and 4 yards to their end zone” is the wrong answer.

There risk with every play? Are you kidding me? With thinking like that I wouldn’t be shocked to see him call a flea-flicker next time it’s goal to go from the 4. What a sorry excuse.

This offense is so basic. Glad we are running the ball well but I was expecting a lot more from the passing game and scheme in general. Play ridder please. We know exactly what we got in Marcus amd it’s not enough. Let’s at least see how the team looks with the rookie
As a coach/OC your job is to limit those risks. It is always a risk after the balls snapped. That % of risk increases with play design, meaning a pass would be a higher risk than run. When you add a inconsistent qb that % of risk will increase. With 3 timeouts, 4 yards to gain and 3 chances to get there. Averaging 5.8 yards a carry, to elevate that risk isn’t imo a good play call. What happened is in no way Mariota’s fault, that passing play should have never been considered to allow the commanders defense a opportunity to make that kind of play.

To this point (depending on the source) the Falcons have had between the 27th and 30th most difficult. 27th or 30th…. and they are 5-7. Holy crap
It’s funny we have to say things like this. Even tho we know our team should be 3 or 4 games ahead of the Bucs right now. And our main reason we’re not is because the QB. And people say. Oh he’s the better QB because they called him the starter. When we see all around the league back up QBs playing better then starters. But we’re the only team that’s running with that excuse. Oh if people saying it’s a rebuild and wins don’t matter why not see our rookie QB play. At this point I really don’t care about winning I just wanna see ridder play

Funny the run game was effective all game. Dont change the game plan. If it isn’t broken dont fix it. Arthur Smith’s drive his truck 200 miles to a gas station with no issues. But, he would rather change his good inflated tires for flat tires. And try to drive efficiently.
The criticism is all about the result, not the decision! If Mariota completes the pass to CP and he walks in nobody would have anything to say! If he ran it 4 straight times and didn’t get in we would say why didn’t you try and throw it! It’s always about the result!
He literally over thinks…all those scenarios on the goal line..JUST RUN THE BALL!! We could’ve lived with the results.
