@Bry Yep. They still make excuses for a guy who got 30 INTs in a season with one of the top WRs in the league. They have always had a bias for him vs Mariota ever since they were in college.
Yes they have had a bias against Mariota. I don’t believe team wins are QB stats because that simplifies it too much but…Mariota whupped Winston’s @ss in college in Rose Bowl CFP and when they got to league Tenn first game was against Winston and the Bucs. Mariota smoked him again with four first half TDs and a lopsided victory. Winston went to a team with Mike Evans and a bunch of other stars and Mariota went to ya team with Delaney Walker. Still beat his @ss and he’s gonna do it again this year. First game of season? jameis winston and the saints. Deja vu baby
Marcus is a frickin warrior when the situation calls for it. If you watched any of his Tenn games you would know that. He cannot do it all by himself though. AS is making sure that won’t happen again and he is betting his job on it
@alanshurtsink I did brother! I watched ALL of his games in Tenn ( the ones on television anyways and the ones I couldn’t watch I listened to on iHart radio-online titans channel). I also watched all of his games at Oregon. All I’ve ever wanted for Marcus is to have a fair chance like these other QBs. Mahomes was drafted to a loaded team and sat for a year behind a respected veteran QB. He also has a HOF coach and teammates. I don’t hate him for it but it would have been nice if Marcus could have had at least a little of that luck lol. I agree about smith I think he is and will co tongue to lookout for Marcus fairly. I don’t think he would compromise his values to help him but he will ensure a fair chance.
Marcus is gonna ball out this year.
It’s got to be the coaching this year especially with the tough schedule. How many of these new guys can light it up like C P. did last year. Be a contributor on offense or defense. We shall see.

One thing I like about Arthur Smith is that he doesn’t blab on and on about everything the Falcons have done. Plus Smith doesn’t believe in tanking for any reason. If coaches had mottos his would be “Let them sleep on us. They’re in for a rude awakening.”

Reporters and media are always trying to shift the persons words to validate or reinforce a narrative that they prefer. Mariota is a nice guy and he’s chill he’s not like Matt therefore he can’t be a leader. As someone who has been to three levels of leadership training through Non-Commissioned Officers Education System (NCOES) the free are different types of leadership. The important part is taking your resources (players) and executing the mission (win games baby). Matt’s style was showboat. He like to yell and posture (especially in front of cameras) that way you can always say hey man I’m trying they just won’t listen. Mariota’s style is much much tougher and more effective. First he has to convince the players that he knows what tf he is talking about. Second he has to walk the walk (even when no one is watching) but there is always someone watching, you just do t see them watching. If you don’t walk it you better not talk it. But if you do and your team willingly believes in you as their leader and not a phoney loud mouth they will be in through walls for you. That’s why Coach kept telling them ask his teammates. You can’t fake that. But they won’t they will continue to make stuff up.
I’ll tell you something, my job in the Army was vastly more important than Mariota’s (I believe) but I think he is a better leader than I was. People gravitate to him and follow him, he natural like that. Of course the results will be on the field and we can and will all see that.
