Never in my life I’ve wanted someone to lose their job other than Spanos, then this season happened. Actually never mind, McCoy and Norv (Norv’s majority of his stint) were horrible coaches. I’d be kinda fine with having Lynn if we get things like in 2018.
2018 was a fluke year, easy scheldule, rookie Josh Allen Bills, no Jimmy G Niners, Rebuilding Cardinals, down year for Seattle, Rebuilding Raiders, Rebuilding Broncos, flukey comeback win aided with the refs against the Steelers, arguably KC too. Rebuilding browns, bengals ( almost lost to them), got exposed in the playoffs to the Pats and never been the same. Made Rivers seem like the scapegoat, but now he isn’t successful with a QB like Herbert, he is the common denominator between these 2 underperforming seasons of course injuries are too, but a good coach works around that, they find ways to win, they win close games, they adapt to the players strengths, everything Lynn didn’t or hasn’t done.
@Edgar 14 norv was actually good at the start of his tenure. I said it above. It was the consecutive 9-7 seasons missing the playoffs that got us nowhere.
@Flarguien 167 it’s all about perspective also, but if we were 5 in power rankings there has to be some truth to the story. in 2018 Russell Wilson didn’t have a down year, he had the MOST touchdowns *EVER* and QBR rating at that point in time. The Chiefs had such a similar schedule it’s almost identical, the Chargers and Chiefs put up similar numbers against them, most of them one score games or 2. Not every game will be a blow out this is football keep in mind. The chiefs lost to the Seahawks while the 1st raiders game, both wins over the Broncos, the browns, and the ravens all by 1 score. Regarding the Pats in the playoffs, we got exposed for a reason and here’s my reasoning, that team won the Super Bowl that year and the defensive packages we ran had too many DB’s on the field and when we did change the scheme they still ran effectively. When we adjusted it was so late into the 2nd half. Regarding the 2nd Chief’s game, they had abysmal and egregious no calls like the helmet-helmet hit on rivers, meanwhile the Steelers game was definitively some sort of miscalls.

If the chargers organization cares AT ALL about their fans or the future of this young team THEY WILL FIRE COACH LYNN! — he is a great guy and will land on his feet. But this team needs a change and coaches will WANT TO COACH for this team for once with what we have .

I hope he stays with the team but just as a rb coach. He does seem like a great guy and our team seems to love him. He just doesn’t have the mindset for where this team is going now that we have the best rookie QB of all time.

At the end of the day, the NFL is a business about winning and making it to the Super Bowl and finishing it out victorious.
If this staff remains the same, this will never happen. Bring in a championship caliber staff to create a winning culture.
