@Captain Orange Actually 2 teams in 1 year. After he got to the Browns he was there for over a decade. Dawson was on the practice squad for the Patriots and Raiders in the same year. McLaughlin just hasn’t been good in 3 years and 6 different teams.
I hope I can get into the Browns by the time the season rolls around. Right now I’m not feeling it the way I always did going back to the early 1960s. It just feels wrong.
@scott zappa Not quite true. Both sides have agreed to let the case rest from July (I think) until March. That still leave the remaining days until that rest period begins. By March of 2023, I anticipate a resolution. Remember, the case began almost a year ago and most civil cases are resolved within 2 years. We’ll see.
@Skip Reed Of course not. I’m just presenting another viable option that allows you to look forward to this season like we do every year.. Think about it. DW was probably paying these women for sex. A young man that is fairly wealthy, found what he thought was an easy approach to getting sex. Better than getting street walkers. His method/approach had worked well for him for 4+ years, until he ask to be traded.
@Tracy Funk Via Adam Ferrise of the Cleveland Plain Dealer, the lawyers handling the cases have agreed that no trials will be scheduled between August 1, 2022 and March 1, 2023.
@scott zappa I knew it was something like that. So it may be resolved before the season starts.
@Tracy Funk If I see this correctly, he’s set to play the entire season unless he decides to settle with one or more of the women. All of this will take until at least next year to fully resolve.

@Tracy Funk I love the Browns wholeheartedly. too, but I don’t suck at coaching special teams.
@UNOCRYPTOBLACKART Does he? He hasn’t had many tools to work with. Gotta remember that the rules have been changed to reduce returns, so it is even harder to get good returns. It really requires that supreme returner that we know Pref hasn’t had. Our special teams, other than the actual kickers, haven’t been bad. No one has returned a kick against us for a TD since he became the STs coach. I can remember a couple big returns in the last 3 years, but not enough to say the coach is garbage.
@UNOCRYPTOBLACKART You sure are not wrong about the significance of special teams. And you might be right about Cribbs being better. It would be cool to see him in that position. Now, about Priefer. I guess my mind was working a bit faster than my fingers. I was implying that when we kick off or punt, our special teams has been decent covering the other team. And the reason we haven’t had any good returns ourselves has a lot to do with the changes in the rules. I was just thinking about the on-sides kicks against us last year. There was more stress there than there should of been. Think I’ll pay a bit more attention to the job he does.
@Tracy Funk Priefer is horrible. I watch to Browns special teams with great frustration as I watch teams like the Colts and the 49ers special teams making plays in almost every game to help them win. The Browns will need dynamic special teams to bring the Lombardi to Cleveland for the very first time. Marty used make me crazy in the playoffs but damn if his Browns special teams weren’t always some of the best in the NFL and they helped those his Browns teams win a lot of games. Right now I see Mike Priefer as the weak link in what is otherwise a Championship football team.
Love that Jakeem Grant has a philosophy of ‘no fair catches’. Shows a grittiness you can’t purchase anywhere. But hope he also keeps his head on a swivel and looks out for #1 which is his own safety and well-being. Welcome to the Dawg Pound!

@Russel Wagner Huh? I was thinking of D’ernest Johnson. You could be right about Felton. I think he had a few recovered fumbles too early in the season.
