Before you comment about how you spent a whole 5 minutes google searching this guys Wikipedia and call him a bad pickup; Matt Lafluer was also a bottom ranked coordinator in the league before he came to Green Bay. Sometimes you just don’t have the talent to work with and numbers actually do lie.
Pettine was top 10 and they went with there second choice for the hire, I have a feeling they’ll be worse this season. I hope I’m wrong.
@Devin Summers The defense was top 10, but the coordinator was not. Za’Darius Smith, Kenny Clark and Preston Smith all approached Pettine and told him to dumb down the system because it was needlessly complicated. It also frequently put the secondary in unfair positions where they had to play much tighter man coverage because they had no safety help half the time. Pettine was too aggressive and didn’t play to the personnel strength. It’s hard to say whether or not Barry is an upgrade, but I don’t think it can be worse in cover 3 or cover 2 man 3-4 scheme. As long as we can play conservative and force teams to drive down the field instead of trying to force big plays every down things will be fine on defense as long as the offense keeps scoring.
