Long time Chiefs fan here. Alex Smith taught the Chiefs how to win again after the 2-14 2012 season when the Chiefs finally gave Matt Cassel the boot. Alex is one of my favorite players and many Chiefs fans still follow him as he still competes. When he does call it a career I am sure he will be a fantastic coach. He is pure class and guts.
I remember, when he was drafted #1 overall by the 49ers. I was 26 at the time. He had it bad for a few years. Finally, he got it together in 2010. By that time, they drafted Colin Kaepernick. Andy Reid wanted him, badly. Like you said, turned the Chiefs around. Took them to the playoffs, each year there. His 2017 was MVP-like. Was surprised they traded him to Washington after that year. Of course, Patrick Mahomes got the torch passed and the rest was history. Still, I cannot believe he was able to come back from the injury. My wife and I saw the documentary, this pass summer. Unbelievable! Smh

The offensive line is a problem for any QB that’s going to be playing on this team. Smith was playing fairly well other than the few horrendous picks. If he can clean those up then he’s easily the guy for this team. Plus don’t bring back Haskins who couldn’t even make screens half the time.
