Both QB’s played amazing today dam

    Matt White

    @NFLRoasr Weekly
Don’t tell them about the drive killing drops in that game. They’ll tell you it was just excuses.

    One800AnimeRocks

@NFLRoasr Weekly suddenly got real quiet 🤫

    Joseph R

@NFLRoasr Weekly running game saved him against the colts.

The La Le Lu Li Lo

@Joseph R I don’t think you watched that game. Baker put them in position to win that game, but also nearly lost it in the second half to be fair.

    ElBloeTigre

@The La Le Lu Li Lo He got banged up in the second half.

butchbrittany

So basically, when he’s not forced to throw to OBJ, he actually reads the field properly and plays well. Remember in his rookie year, when he looked good, OBJ wasn’t there yet. Just an observation.

    Malcom Summers

@Javier No he averages 5 targets a game.

    aaron butler

Bengals defense is your answer. Without it Baker still a bum and can’t read field. Just throw it up anywhere against Bengals defense and it will find your player. All offenses have tried this approach. All had offensive success.

    Uru Sledge

@MarMeez Baker played 0 plays against the Bengal’s QB.

    Brian Thompson

@The Stranger Could that be because 33% of the targets to OBJ were 8 feet over his head? At some point defenses will adjust as they did before. And then when OBJ is gone, everyone will be saying, dang, if only we had somebody that can take the top off the defense and/or consistently attract double teams. Don’t worry, you’ll all get your wish and then we’ll see because OBJ is probably done for the year. So when Baker still sucks against the Steelers who will be the scapegoat then?

    Johnny Cage

people need to stop and remember this was against a lowly bengals defense not steelers or ravens

Gautham Dixit

so he’s actually good when he isn’t forcing the ball to OBJ and Landry

    Thomas Stankiewicz

    Just Obj

    My Dude

Well Landry knows his route and timing and actually catches the ball.

    kingdan 216

@My Dude and they got back to running mire play’s out of the shotgun

Jay mere

jarvis and baker has a better connection then obj

    Jay mere

    @BUTTERBROS wym

    zartosht06

yeah OBJ is a great teammate but there is no chemistry with Baker

    Don_east

@iYoda nah every time Higgins is out there baker hits him perfectly

    Big dawg Jesus

BUTTERBROS yeah baker and Higgins have the most chemistry then it’s Landry, Bryant, Hunt lol all of them have more of a connection with the QB than obj idk for some reason obj and baker are just not on the same page and it’s been a year and a half styles just don’t mix

    Quentin Ware-Bey

@Big dawg Jesus I agree. Him and Higgins said they built that relationship their rookie year during training camp when they were on the 2nd unit. Higgins was his go to guy during camp and it carried over from there. Him and Landry admitted they didn’t build chemistry until last year (Landry’s most yards ever as a Pro in a season) and I was hoping that this would be the year OBJ built that chemistry as well but now we will . There were signs of it but now we may never know.

I guess hulu does have live sports

Baker Mayfield’s best game this year by far!!!

    John Chido

    @CW 8 lmao what ???

    My Dude

@Joseph R Lamar against the Bengals…..180 yards 2TDs 1 INT MVP MVP MVP

    Mike Amara

    his best game ever

    Bts054 O54

    Some wide open passes..

    Zach Wright

@Moss ross definitely this. Only one incompletion after 0-5 start. Which came on the spike to stop clock.

Here's Jonny

Dude has had FOUR head coaches and offensive coordinators in THREE seasons.

If the Browns can have a sustainable system in place, they could see more of this.

    Richard Schmidt

@Mel L the QB throws it short on purpose because the defender usually has his back turned to the ball and is at a major disadvantage. This allows the receiver to make the adjustment and Odell doesn’t do it.

    Big dawg Jesus

Richard Schmidt @Kregslee yes baker has had a lot of coaches but come on be serious he simply has to be better in his decision making and reading defenses. like that should be basic qb knowledge that he doesn’t need to pick up in a system. those pics he threw against pitt last week were the “wtf are you doing???” kind of interceptions that shouldn’t be made period end of story. I like him and hope he continues to do progress and would also like to see him with the same coach and system for multiple years and see how he does but it seems like when he plays teams like pit/bal who gets pressure and disguises coverages he freezes up

    Richard Schmidt

@Big dawg Jesus after Odell went out Baker started reading the defense, going through his progressions and looking off defenders. It was beautiful football. Baker looked like he could be a Hall of Famer.

    Big dawg Jesus

Richard Schmidt yeah I I know I just wanna see him do it against the ravens or the Steelers then he’ll be legit to me

    Mel L

@Richard Schmidt I understand that and I’ve seen him use that ball placement with Landry a lot. I just don’t believe that was the play. Obj hand no clue that ball was coming. Usually some one nationally, locally will say this but no one single person said that for some odd reason the chemistry is not there like we all wish it was and that’s very disappointing. Like I said I’m pulling for the young man!

See what happens when the Browns dont have to worry about “Getting Odell the ball”?

    Kevin Wall

@Joseph R I think I’m done here because you’re using Baker’s stats with Odell and acting like those were his stats without him, when in reality he has been statistically excellent without him, and his stats while throwing to Odell vs other receivers shows a similar pattern. “A team that can put up a fight” is so vague that you can’t be proven wrong. Baker just had a Michael Jordan type performance there after the first quarter and put the team on his back; calling him a bum doesn’t change that

    Joseph R

@Kevin Wall bro there was no Odell in 2018 when he faced the Texans and ravens and he threw multiple picks when they showed him disguised coverage

    Kevin Wall

@Joseph R If you remember the Ravens game, he actually played extremely well. He had 376 passing yards, and missed out on a wide open 95 yard score on third down because Jarvis Landry let a lofted, slow-moving ball hit him in the face. One of his picks was from a dropped pass, and another was on a fourth down at the end of the game when he was forcing the ball down the field. At the time, everyone thought that Baker had played extremely well, and that Baker vs Lamar Jackson would be a rivalry for years to come (obviously they didn’t think Jackson would become as good as he is as soon as he did). Then they got Odell, and I would be surprised if Baker has played well against any coverage since. Odell has made some great plays outside of the receiving game e.g. that run against the Cowboys, but there is no doubt that Baker is a better QB without him.

    Christian Corley

Joseph R he was a rookie then bud. And frankly, that same team had been 0-16 the previous year. You just hate baker.

FanMade Edits

O-line injured, including one of the best blockers in the league, Austin hooper out, OBJ out, and Nick Chubb, the MVP of this team, has been out- yet this offense still rumbled down the field in 55 seconds.

    Robert Janko

@OffensiveFarmer its like choosing a blonde or a brunette. Team is stepping up and thats what counts!

    MitchBloodGreen

@Robert Janko Myles Garrett has been arguably the best defensive player in the entire NFL this year. That’s hard to beat. Chubb was awesome but he has also now missed essentially 4 games and the Browns are 3-1 in that stretch. (1) No way the Browns win 3 of 4 regardless of who they’re playing without Myles; (2) Availbility has to be taken into account. Myles has played every game so far. Chubb has played less than half. Myles is Team MVP right now & it isn’t particularly close, as much as I *love* Nick Chubb. Just bought an authentic #24 in white and I love it. But Myles is your MVP.

Good play calls. Hunt is also a beast. We are deep in the TE position, the rook came up big for us. Higgins, People’s Jones stepped up big. Guys making most of chances is what helped alot. And last but not least Baker stepped up to that Franchise QB role and went off for 22 STRAIGHT completions.

    Neil Murray

    It’s the Bengals calm down

Abel Ryan

1. Shut up about the commercials. Dude wants to get paid and may get hurt tomorrow ending his career. You do the same thing and you know it
2. Stop turning on Baker every week. He will have bad weeks like everyone else
3. Yes, the Browns are beating good teams. The Cowboys were the best offense in the NFL and the Colts were the best defense. The Bills got smoked by the Titans. Do they suck?

    Johnny Cage

    4. Make Odell get injured for the betterment of team morale.

    John Salem

    1. You are correct
    2. Baker is not immune from criticism, he hasn’t been the QB we’ve needed before this week, period. He’s constantly underperformed and that warrants people “turning on him”
    3. The bills aren’t all that good. They barely beat the damn Jets for chrissakes.

    8008

    1. People talk abt commercials because hes not that good and it gets tiring of seeing a bad player all the time
    2. He got outscored 76-13 against the ravens and steelers
    3. The colts and cowboys are not the best d, and o. For d it goes steelers, bucs bears, colts. For offense it goes bucs, gb, and kc then dallas.
And 4. Dallas has the worst d, and the colts o is laughable, baker and the browns are a faker.

    Shrum Media

@Greg Gilly You hit the nail on the head brother! Except its wayyyy more than that!

    Shrum Media

@John Salem 1. Its completely ignorant to put our teams struggles all on Baker.
    2. Hes played really solid football for our team for the most part. Backed up by him being 9th in the nfl in total qbr right now.
3.No one is immune to criticism but to act like there isn’t far worse things on the browns going on is a joke( Almost the entire defense and o line inconsistancy)
    4. You are why Browns fans are seen as toxic. You Dont know what you are watching so blame the qb or the coach. Learn the game a little and you will see why the coaches are so high on Baker. Hes done a lot of very good things this year and has won us a 5-2 record with a very banged up offense.
5.Learn football, then talk about it

boisterous billyclub

Zippiest passes in the league

    JakeC 115

he cranks that thing, almost a little too hard lmao

    Thraitor

@JakeC 115 way too hard lmfao

Higgins is not better than OBJ. Landry and Higgins is better for the Browns than Landry and OBJ.

When Rashard Higgins plays, good things happen.

Except last game when he couldn’t get open and dropped those passes. Loved him this game but let’s be real.

    The Gospel truth!

    Zach Wright

Bro I been saying this for 2 years. Idk what it is. Whenever he played he’s scoring or catching almost every ball thrown his way.

Abby Miloro

Here’s the thing, browns fans including myself know we aren’t 100% ready to beat all star teams like the ravens, Steelers, etc. We used to lose to shitty teams like the bengals before, now we win to them. That’s a step, let it work out over time. They need to learn to walk before they can run.

    BiGG X01

Only problem is they cant afford all that talent in a few years. Some will need to go.

    CW 8

@BiGG X01 obj gone after this year 100%

    Max Stuart

@BiGG X01 OBJ, Olivier Vernon, Sheldon Richardson, David Njoku, JC Tretter will all be gone and are all replaceable imo. Baker may well be better when he doesn’t feel like he needs to get Odell the ball. Vernon is making 10+ mill for nothing. He’s gone for sure. The Browns have drafted to replace Richardson with Jordan Elliott. Same with Njoku with Harrison Bryant. Same with Tretter with Nick Harris. Berry has done a really good job so far.

    WhatevrNameIsntTaken

@Max Stuart The browns have let quite a few O linemen walk, but replacing them has been troublesome. I hope they keep Tretter. Although maybe Nick Harris might be a potential starter. I think continuity is key for a good o line.

    Max Stuart

@WhatevrNameIsntTaken they have in the past but the commitment to that room from the front office this off-season is really promising. Not just the player acquisitions but the hiring of Bill Callahan as well. Harris is the PERFECT fit for a wide zone scheme. I thought he’d be a good player for us, but with Callahan I believe he has pro bowl potential because of his movement skills and how good of a reach blocker he’ll be in this scheme.

Edward Oorjitham

Fractured rib, without Hooper, OBJ, Chubb n OL banged up and in the toughest division with one of the best rookies in the game. Nuff said. Go freakin Browns!!

Jack Benton

I said when they drafted him that Harrison Bryant was going to be the steal of the draft. I truly believed from day one that he had Pro Bowl or maybe even All-Pro possibilities, and I was so sure that he was EASILY the best Tight End in the entire draft. The Browns have two starting-caliber Tight Ends in Njoku and Hooper ahead of him, so I also knew that his elite abilities probably wouldn’t show up very often in his rookie season…not until or unless Njoku was traded. Well, between the various injuries to Hooper and Njoku throughout this season, Bryant has gotten quite a bit of playing time and every time Baker hits him for a completion, he’s breaking tackles and making fantastic plays. He was AWESOME in this game and had two TD catches. I truly believe that Harrison Bryant is going to eventually become one of the best Tight Ends in the entire NFL.

As a side note, I also thought that Donovan Peoples-Jones was going to be a steal for the Browns, although I have no problem admitting that I didn’t have the same amount of confidence in him as I did in Harrison Bryant. The main reason I wasn’t as confident about Peoples-Jones becoming an elite NFL player was because he was completely and totally wasted by Jim Hairball at Michigan. Peoples-Jones struggled to make simple catches sometimes in college and I wasn’t sure if that was because he was lazy and that laziness would carry over to his NFL career, or if that was because he would lose focus due to never having a QB who was capable of getting him the ball more than once a game.

Well, so far he has been AWESOME in his limited opportunities in the NFL. The three catches he had in this game were the first three catches of his NFL career, and they were ALL big-time catches, including that unbelievable game-winner. That said, his very first NFL appearance was in the game against the Cowboys, and Peoples-Jones straight up STEAMROLLED one of the Cowboys’ Linebackers while blocking during a run play. That showed me that he was committed to doing whatever it took to get on the field in the NFL, even if all he ever did was play on Special Teams and block for Nick Chubb or Kareem Hunt on running plays. Now that OBJ is injured though, it looks like he’s going to get more consistent playing time and we’ll see if he lives up to what he did in this game.

If Peoples-Jones ends up being a stud NFL WR, then I’ll be convinced that Andrew Berry is the GM who is going to turn the entire Browns franchise around. So far, his first NFL draft has turned out to be one of the best drafts the Browns have had in the last 21 years. Consistently fantastic drafts are the key to building a perennial winner in the AFC North…something the Browns have LITERALLY NEVER been! If every draft is as good as Berry’s first ever NFL draft, then the Browns have a legitimate chance of becoming the kind of franchise that the Steelers and Ravens have been for the last 20+ years. Our offense is STACKED right now…with Delpit coming back from injury next season and if Berry can draft/sign a bunch of defensive studs this off-season then the Browns are going to be an INCREDIBLE team for at least the next 5 years.

    Elmo Green

    He was a BEAST!

    thecoldwaters

Agree with you 100% go Browns!!

    kingdan 216

Agreed dpj was recruited by urban Myer but he chose michigan if at ohio State he could have been taken in the first three rounds has first round talent

Phillip Kelley

I want to hear the words “Baker Mayfield completed 22 consecutive passes and 5tds” tomorrow. Don’t downplay his performance!

    Greg Gilly

They won’t mention a word about it. Espn spent all week criticizing him, they are just going to ignore it until the browns lose a game somewhere then they will double down.

    Joseph R

Against the bungles defense. Don’t forget that

Meghraj - Chargers FAN India #BoltUp

I am more happy for Mayfield bcoz after all criticism and insults thrown his way this past week he really stepped up and won a game against divisional rival
Best of luck to both Browns and Bengals fanbase your future is in good hands for next decade and a half. I think in couple of years Steelers have to get some nice QB to compete bcoz there are now 3 young guns in AFC North at QB helm
