Super Bowl 42: Undefeated season loses the Super Bowl many mistakes made by both Brady and the defense the Giants defensive line had been breathing down Brady’s neck for the entire game and thats on Brady for making mistakes and on the offensive line for not doing their job but despite the mistakes he made that game I can’t not give Brady credit for putting his team up in the fourth quarter with the game on the line and coming up clutch and essentially sealing the Giants doom especially after the defensive line broke Brady in half according to Michael Strahan and Justin Tuck. That’s where the defense comes in let’s see Asante Samuel drops a sure fire interception, then the defense doesn’t sack Eli Manning and allows the Helmet catch to take place, and Plaxico Burress is left wide open to give the Giants the game winning touchdown so I don’t how I can argue with that
Elliott Portlock and there has been many instances where Brady has been bailed out by his defence can even say carried by his defence especially in numerous AFC championship games but because the team won they overlook it. 2010 vs Ravens, 2011 vs Jets, 2012 vs Ravens (despite wining), 2013 vs Ravens, 2014 vs Broncos, 2015 Super Bowl defence, 2016 vs Broncos, 2017 vs Falcons second half that defence shout out Falcons, 2019 Super Bowl and last season.
Again Brady is great with accomplishments and he makes the throws when he needs more time than none
But this narrative that he single handily has won games, need to be re-evaluated not stopped but re-evaluated.

In the 2011 the Patriots went 13-3 with the 31st ranked defense and Brady carried that team all the way to the Super Bowl and there the defense proceed to let Eli Manning go through them like a buzzsaw…..again…..for the second time in a row….
Heck look at the Seattle Seahawks Super Bowl where they almost allowed the same thing to happen again! The Seahawks make an insanely lucky play and Brady almost suffered a repeat of the last two Super Bowl losses
Ask any Patriots fan and they will testify it’s the most frustrating thing about being a Patriots fan is the defense doing idiotic things. Of course it wasn’t always like that. But since the group of the early 2000s got dismantled because of just elapsed years its just never been the same. The last 9 years has been much more mediocre defense than good defense. And above all, thank God for guys like Donta Hightower, Kyle Van Noy, Malcolm Butler, Rob Ninkovich, Stephon Gilmore, and other guys like that who really made their mark when they had to. I give them credit to where credit is due because without Hightower tackling Marshawn in Super Bowl 49 and strip sacking Matt Ryan in Super Bowl 51? Brady loses those games and without Malcolm Butler picking apart that play and making that interception that’s a completed game winning touchdown pass from Russell Wilson and nobody would be complaining about the Seahawks not running the ball into the endzone

Yeah they’ll probably go 2-3 to start the season and still make the playoffs, especially with the expanded playoffs. Everyone when is acting like the Buccs were heavy favorites when they were +150 underdogs
As a Bucs fan I’m not really nervous. Saints only lost 3 games last year. It’s not like we got blown out by the Browns or Lions. We lost to the Saints week 1 in 2002 and won the super bowl that year. When we beat the Saints in 2018 week 1 they got the 1st seed. It’s way too early. Definitely no excuses. Lots of mistakes were made. They were the better team. But there’s a lot of time to improve.

New team, needs to adjust the whole team not just Brady. Saints also hard as nails. They might lose some games but they will soon pick it up once the team settles down and gets chemistry.

They’ll get better. He made some great throws, he also made some bad throws. It’ll take time for him to get settled in. Let’s remember, every time Brady has started out 0-1, he’s made it to the super bowl.
This is not the Patriots this is a new team a new gameplan, new roster, new playbook, new coach, new everything so I’m not saying that brady is done but the bucs has stuff to figure out, they made unforgivable mistakes in that game that are highschool level mistakes like that fumble the last quarter, why did a defender try to catch the ball when the receiver was in position ready to catch it? They didn’t play horrible but the mistakes they made where awful

Tough loss.
Overall, I’m not too down though. It was Week 1. No preseason. No offseason program, and we were playing against a great team who is very unified.
We’ll be alright.

C) Without a preseason, he wasn’t able to adjust to the new system different from the one he’s had for 20 years

@Ryan Thomas I don’t know man. Dude’s played with solid receivers and won superbowls with them without elite receivers. That’s pretty elite to me when you’ve won superbowls with the likes of Edelman, Amendola, and the Chris Hogans type of receivers. No other quarterbacks have yet to win multiple superbowls with that type of receivers.

This doesn’t shock me at all. Brady has been running that short yardage, “dink and dunk” offense for 20 years. He ran it to perfection in New England but this is a downfield, multiple read, timing offense. This is not his game at all, he doesn’t have the arm for this. Good luck Tampa fans…..
Not really, look at his career averages. The narrative that Brady doesn’t push the ball down the field has never been true as is the one system in 20 years. They ran multiple offense schemes over that time. Look at the 2017 offense compared to 2007 compared to 2003

Mike Keller that’s simply a lie, his career averages show that as does common sense. How did so many of his receivers/TE magically wind up with 1000 plus seasons? How could a check down guy last 20 years and a ypa near 8?
