@John Ryan hopefully John Jenkins can hold it down and Bilal Nichols. I like our depth on the DL but Goldman isn’t easily replaceable

@Randy Savage I like Bhilal, and I think RRH is getting there too. There’s just not enough big bodies behind Hicks if he goes out again.

Our ILB depth isn’t there this season, and playing a run dominant team is going to take it’s toll on the middle.

@John Ryan I think that the backup ILB just need more experience and no preseason is a killer. Joel Igybuniwie or however you spell it and Josh Woods have nice athleticism but just lack the proper reps. We are young and inexperienced. I miss Kwit but if I had to choose between him and Danny, I’m taking Danny all day every day.

@Randy Savage hopefully they step up. Those guys also key special teams components as well as ILB depth.

@Oliver Lacey They could’ve kept KPL but not at the head-scratching price that Washington gave him… 1yr/$3M guaranteed (that’s a $2.2M raise). Bears were originally slated to receive a 7th rd compensatory pick for KPL, but it was rescinded because they were over the 32-pick limit. Anyhoo, good for him for getting paid.

Do you hear yourself? How were we going to keep him? Kwiatkowski wanted more money than the bears could afford… In case you forgot, Mack is taking up a lot of the salary cap. Kwiatkowski didn’t want to be a career backup…. He went where he could get paid.

Had to let K go. Hated to see it but he deserved a spot. As far as backups go, they are sufficient. We’ve been lucky to find backups that have played well and both earned starting spots and higher salaries. We can’t stash these guys forever.

@Jeffrey Arao Agree. Also hated to see Kwit go, but he played himself into a nice FA payday. Well deserved. Bears actually lost both backups Kwit and Pierre-Louis. Iggy needs to show he was worth a 4th rd pick (#45) and not just a special teams contributor. Coincidentally, Kwit was also a 4th rounder (#44) who obviously was well worth his pick.

Facts, hopefully 58&59 stay healthy

@Oliver Lacey History tells us that’s a fat chance with Trevathan since he’s only played 16 games twice (2013, 2018) in his entire career and only once as a Bear. He’s missed 51 games in his 8-year career (for an average of 6 games/year). That’s why it was such a huge calculated risk choosing to keep Trevathan instead of Kwit. My fingers and toes are crossed LOL.
