@TheSportsGuru You are correct in jumping the gun. Thank you for recognizing that. It’s sports. I’m just having a discussion. There are said to be 3 types of lies. Lies, damned lies, and statistics. I was simply pointing out that having a great offense is of benefit to a defense and that the stats from week 12 on do not paint the entire picture. You made a case for the CB’s being a strong group, but not much of 1 imo. In fact Brett Veach probably feels the same. That’s why analysts had us targeting CB & LB in the draft. Maybe you are just a glass super half full kinda guy. The rookie they grabbed in the 4th round appears to be an athletic freak, so perhaps he can help that group. I do admit that having good safeties helps as well. If Thornhill comes back and continues on the trajectory he was on, that’s a huge plus. You did conveniently not reply to anything about the LB crew however. The hypersensitivity is strong. I’m a Chiefs fan. Been a Chiefs season ticket holder for nearly 15 years. This isn’t some witch hunt to downgrade the Chiefs. I am looking at things with a critical eye because my desire is for us to win it all every year. Sometimes people don’t agree. Even if they are on the same team. Be safe.

@YouGotHouses WeGotMahomes I agree with TheSportsGuru about Ward. I think the Chiefs found a gem there. I’ll bite on the LB topic. Hitchens is solid. He’s one of the leaders on defense along with Clark and honey badger. He’s the play caller, the communicator between the D-line and the secondary. Good instincts and football IQ, just doesn’t have impressive athleticism. Damien Wilson is a downhill physical player. The kid they drafted from Miss State has speed and athleticism that jumps off the screen. So they’ve got solid placeholders and Willie Gay can develop. It’s not an amazing situation but it’s not worrisome either, imo. They can absolutely be a top 10 defense in points allowed again, and that’s really all they need.
@Mike Blick Time will tell on Ward. With the moves that have been made, I think the rest of the division is showing that they are more interested in trying to stay with us putting points on the board than preventing us from scoring. I think signing Chris Jones certainly helps both the CB & LB crew. I do like how Damien Wilson came on last year. He seemed to be near the ball quite a bit. Hitchens I’m not so high on, and rookies are so hard to predict. A top 10 scoring defense would be fine by me though no doubt.
