We’ll do amazing things going forward and I do see championships to come. I believe in John Elway and coach Fangio. Just you wait, oh how I just wish Pat (Mr.B) was here to see all this, def when we do win them rings and all, shall be dedicated to a great management and coaches and players but above all to Mr.B and his family. Mr.B is still part of the blue and orange even if he’s not here but his family is. Let’s go Broncos country we stand we bleed blue and orange!

Elway, to be very nice, really struggled his first year as a starting quarterback. He didn’t just look bad, he looked horrible. Elway, and the film will tell you that much. Drew, looked outstanding, his passes were accurate, thrown at the right speed, and his lead on the receiver was excellent. His decision making process, while under pressure, was excellent overall. His ability to move in the pocket, excellent, and his ability to throw off balance was very good. Drew is a natural leader. A lot of the Broncos heads were slumping, and in five games he made them believers again.

Everything you said was true but why the elway comparison? Are you implying Lock will be better?
@Anthony No, but everyone makes the assumption that he won’t be, or makes the assumption that Elway was always great. Elway was lucky, and had coaches who believed in him, stuck with him through the bad times, and Elway eventually became the Hall of Famer he is today. Today we have Lock, so let’s sit back and watch him progress through his trials and tribulations, his ups and downs, and see what he becomes. I certainly do not discount that he has the demeaner, and raw talent to someday become one of the greats.
@Wallace Velie Look, same narrative for Peyton Manning. Horrible first year. But to call Elway lucky is bollocks. He would’ve thrived in any system and with any level of talent helping him. For the record the Broncos in the 80s weren’t really that strong. Elway took them to three superbowls and in two of them they were underdogs (first to Lawrence Taylor’s Giants in ’87 and then to Montana and Rice in ’89). More a case of Elway being unlucky to be surrounded by lesser talents than that of the 80s Giants and Niners.
The same thing with Peyton Manning. His first year was AWFUL! Go look at Manning’s stats!
It seems some of these newer QBs coming out like Mahomes and now Lock are having success, because they’re getting a lot of help from the older generation QBs. And in particular Lock now, with Elway literally handing Drew the keys to a dam Lamborghini! All that talent and SPEED that Elway got for Lock’s offense is just unreal. If they get the playbook right, Drew Lock could end up having one of the greatest seasons for a QB (especially 2nd year QB) has ever had in the history of the league.
jordan got the rings…but elway a better success record as a team manager…..
