@Big White Duck Who wasn’t trading? What was the point in doing it sooner? You’re not making sense. The point was trying to move up as soon as there was only one left of the Big 4. When Jets were on the board there was still Becton and Wirfs. Raiders were going to go WR, so no need to try to move into their spot. 49ers next, which is only one spot up so we did not have to trade as much to move up; which I am glad we did in order to ensure we got the last of the Big 4.

@Bryce Hatley 49ers were always taking Kinlaw what part of that do you not understand. They were on the board and were not trading down cause it was obvious since pick 8 they would take Kinlaw if he was available.

@Big White Duck That’s exactly what I said – that Kinlaw was going to be the 49ers pick even if they stayed at 13. Other teams (Miami for example) were trying to trade with the 49ers to take Wirfs ahead of us.
This is why we traded to pick 13, so we could be the ones to get Wirfs. And the 49ers knew they would obviously still get Kinlaw – whereas if they traded with Miami they would likely have not gotten him (although would have gotten a good deal of draft capital).

Doing trades – especially in the 1st – sooner than you need to is not smart at all. Giving up a 4th to move up a spot and get the last of the Big 4 OTs along with an extra 7th was well worth it.

@Bryce Hatley Ill bet my life that Kinlaw was not lasting after Bucs and even if 49ers took Tristan Bucs would have taken Kinlaw as a Rotation guy

Jason may have whiffed on several pics in the past but it’s pretty clear this isn’t one of them. The Dolphins picked an offensive tackle right after this and it’s pretty clear the Dolphins or somebody else or maybe several other teams were trying to get that spot. I’ll trade to 4th round picks for quite possibly the best tackle coming out of college and Rob Gronkowski any day of the week. This dude is putting together a phenomenal offense and the defense isn’t too shabby either. It’s really easy to see what’s going on he is an NFL GM and he’s not just going to give away a pic for nothing.

rob13589 their was no point to it though 😂 the reason is the 49ers were not in need of a tackle when they have joe Staley. They were obviously taking a wr or d-line to replace Buckner.
