On a selfless note, I’d be happy for him if he eventually left and got a starting role somewhere. On a selfish note though, I wouldn’t mind if Minshew stayed around for the long haul as he definitely has that potential to follow in the footsteps of an all-time favorite of Eagles fans, a down home, blue collar, hard workin’, always faithful, country boy who also wore #10 as a back up QB. The man, the truth, the fan favorite, the legend… Mr. Koy Detmer. He was a backup for almost 10 straight years with us. He rarely played, and complained even less. But as a true team player, he could hold it down for the offense when he had to and was absolutely adored as a player for fans just seeing him down there being just as faithful as any geyser erupting in any National Park. He was so popular as a backup QB, that it wasn’t completely uncommon to see people wearing his jersey. Minshew has that same vibe. Would love to have him as fam on the team staying the long haul. He definitely has the potential to also be ‘that guy every Eagles fan loves to see with the team’, like Koy was. And beating the CowPies on Christmas Eve could go a long way towards getting that legendary, Philly fav status.
