I’m with you brother! I was born in 74, fell in love with football at age 4 watching games with my pops, loved the way the Raiders played, and obviously the colors, best uniform ever, I wore Raiders players numbers throughout Pop Warner & High School Football. When I was in High School the Raiders had the Winning Percentage in all of Pro Sports, we were the Dominated MNF, when I was a kid and we played under the bright lights of prime time, we won… then we didn’t… it’s been frustrating af over the last few decades… we’ve had spurts here and there, but we haven’t been able to sustain as a Winning Franchise in a very long time… it’s time for the Raiders to be a Winning Franchise AGAIN!!! Raider Nation DESERVES TO BE REWARDED WITH PLAYOFF WINS, AFC CHAMPIONSHIPS AND SUPERBOWL WINS!!!!!!!!!!!!
I didn’t think that McDaniels was a Leader of Men, his Gameplans had been questionable, his Play Calling and in-game adjustments had been suspect… at one point I thought for sure that he was intentionally sabotaging this Raiders team in order to get rid of Carr, but then we won and I saw McDaniels hug Carr and the team jump around and dance together chanting, “DC, DC, DC, DC!!!” and I saw how much they all love and respect each other… idk if McDaniels was sabotaging the team and realized that he’d lose the locker room if he didn’t start winning or if he and the team were still figuring things out and he is just still very new to being a HC and figuring out how to get the best out of his team, I’m actually now leaning towards the latter, but I love how this Raiders team has bonded over the last couple of weeks… I’m not going to look ahead. I’m going to just enjoy each game and do my best to not get too invested. I truly believe that the officiating is how the sports books and NFL front office riggs the games to keep them close, to make the most money on advertising and then give teams advantages so they can cover and make the sports books the most money. And there’s the obvious calls and non-calls to give teams advantages in the playoffs and Superbowls… Brian Tuohy wrote a book about how teams have received favorable calls that the teams that have won Superbowls get a lot of help. In a game of inches, it’s actually not just quite, but rather extremely unfair how judgment call penalties can either give a team’s offense 10 or 15+ yards and a fresh set of downs… or give the defense a huge advantage by pushing back the offense 10 or 15 yards and a loss of down… looking at how since the merger up until last year, the Raiders had been penalized over 6,150 times, compared to the least penalized team the Patriots had less than 1,000… and most of these have been over the last 20 years… no one can tell me that it’s because the Raiders are such a poorly coached and undisciplined team. Obviously, procedural(presnap) penalties don’t count.
Although, in the Superbowl, the Rams had 4 false starts on their game winning drive that were obvious, yet not called… however, there was a phantom dpi called against the Bengals on 3rd and goal that drive… it was clearly not dpi, but it gave the Rams 1st and goal from inside the 5 yard line.
The refs have gotten smarter about it, now they typically only call penalties at crucial moments, if they are trying to give a team an advantage or disadvantage.
So considering all of this, I am not as concerned about Superbowls, at least right now… I just want to see the Raiders play so well as a team, that it doesn’t matter what refs do, we are good enough and resilient enough and make clutch plays often enough that we still win despite the refs trying to screw us!!!
