Niners were never winning the SB with Jimmy anyway. Just let Purdy finish the rest of the season, MAYBE a playoff game or two. He needs to get the experience.
If they manage to get to the NFC Championship or the Superbowl with Purdy then for sure he would become started with Trey as QB2 or even potentially traded for picks and Jimmy for sure is gone to the Texans or maybe the Jets

I am heartbroken to lose Jimmy. I was always a supporter of him , even when other people blasted him mercilessly. He was always a team player- and you can tell that the players love and respect him. I truly wanted to see him finish strong, and I feel for his future. I will miss him as a faithful niners fan.

He also made some very BAD throws in preseason. That is his style of play. He will try and force the ball which will bite him badly.
The Niners simply need a QB that isn’t reckless with the ball. We don’t rely on the QB position to win us games.. it’s been like that for awhile.
Yup, and that’s why we won’t win a SB anytime soon. Need a QB who can deliver in clutch moments and right now the Niners don’t have that.

Jimmie threw 8 passes in a title game. Our system just needs someone who won’t turn it over.

Stupid comment. Jimmy has a 4:1 TD/INT ratio this season. The reason he threw 8 passes in the NFC title game was because we were averaging 12 yards per carry and we have like 4 TDs of more than 40 yards. When you’re running the ball like that you simply don’t bother throwing. It’s pointless. The spin on this stat is so ridiculous I can’t even stand it. We scored a touchdown on like the 1st or second play of that game, running it. Then we came back out and every time we ran it we got a first down. Whey would you stop running it to throw? That was good coaching, not bad quarterbacking. Give that narrative a rest.

And what’s ironic is Shannahan could’ve used that same exact strategy in the SB the following game but decided to throw the ball for some reason. Mostert and Deebo couldn’t be stopped. But he wanted his handsome QB you get MVP over an undrafted RB.

They’ll likely keep the playbook small to ease Purdy in….they’ve got a really good O-line, a great running game – and if he can make the throws like he did yesterday, they’ll be fine. I think it hurts their playoff chances – I’m not a big believer in JimmyG, but he has a level of experience that Purdy doesn’t in bigger games.
I think the Niner’s will be fine …..This reminds me of when the Eagles starting QB Carson Wentz went down and Nick Foles stepped in and won SB 52 ….They have 6 more weeks to play and get Purdy ready for the playoffs.

Brock stood tall and made some good throws. I was honestly blown away for him being a 7th round last pick. Mr Irrelevant has never completed a pass in NFL history and he threw two TDs.

Oh my gosh, Jimmy G was NOT one pass away from a SB! I’m so sick off hearing that. There would’ve been a minute left and 3 timeouts left for Mahomes. I think we know how that would’ve ended.
Purdy looked ok and the defense was going to carry them anyway this season, but I’m trying to figure out where that trust in Kyle with a backup QB is coming from. Every time the Jimmy topic comes up, his supporters in the media bring up Kyle’s record with Jimmy vs his record with everyone else. You probably have that graphic ready to go for your show as well.
I hope Purdy is the guy who breaks that stat, just like I was hoping Lance would, but so far we’ve seen Kyle struggle with all of these other QBs. Maybe the offensive weapons they have now will make it different, but I have to see it to believe it.
Jimmy isn’t an elite QB, but he’s a winner and he was on his best stretch of his career once CMC was assimilated into the offense. That move seemed to have solved Jimmy’s boneheaded INT problem and maybe fixed the one issue that would’ve prevented them from winning it all.
The script for this movie has some unbelievable twists and a protagonist who won’t be there for the third act, unless Jimmy shows up in a couple of weeks to help guide Brock from the sideline. Maybe it’s a story about the veteran QB the team gave up on, getting that one last shot but getting hurt and realizing he can still have an impact and help the team win in other ways.
Everyone thought the Rams were done when Trent Green went down and Warner was named the starter. You saw how that turned out. And the 49ers offense is quite a bit like the Rams offense was.
As experience goes. Prudy isn’t that far behind the guys at Qb playing in the nfc. None of the QBs beside Brady have done anything in the playoffs. We’ve already seen the 49ers win in the playoffs without good Qb play. The defense has been the reason sf is legit. Niners could still make a super bowl but winning is another beast
