    Skyler Mummert

    Hell yes some OGs

Nels

Man such a different NFL back then. I remember seeing this game live

    SG

Looks pretty similar to me. Just slightly larger pads.

    Nels

@SG it’s a very different game lol just in terms of rules and how players played. I’m not saying it’s a bad thing now but if you watched games back then you can’t deny its different.

    SG

@Nels yeah they made a lot of the hard hits illegal but idk what else is so different besides some minor rule changes. The players look just as fast and strong as today

FireLightning16

My 3rd season as a Vikings fan.

Damn I Miss The 2000s.

    FunkoFever

    I miss the 90’s

The McAndrews

What a game! Do the same thing this weekend Skol Vikings

Put Culpepper in the Ring of Honor someday

People forget how good Daunte Culpepper was at his peak, before the idiotic Moss trade and subsequent knee injury. He pretty much had a mini version of Cam Newton’s career. But it’s been memory holed to such an extent that I still hear people trying to clown on the Vikings for not drafting Rodgers in 2005, not remembering that they literally had an All Pro quarterback already.

    Andrew Cooper

Yeah we’ve done some stupid fucking stuff as a franchise

    TheWarshire

Some of it was sadly dante too. He was his own agent which always makes thing harder. The knee injury is a never seen before or after konda thing and he refused to rehab in minnesota. Wanted to do it all in Miami. And let’s be fair. He never got 100% again. I can remeber he did a race in oakland in shorts and torn his knee up again. But boy was he special for those 5 years.

    Jason Steele

Culpepper had a rocket for an arm. The zip he put on his throws and the beautiful way he would place bombs to Randy made every Sunday exciting.

Daulton Gray

This was the first Viking game I ever watched!

sotastatesoulja

Ah, the good ol’ metrodome days. I went there during the off season a few times when I was a kid to rollerblade around the thing, a much simpler time back then.

Michael Stewart

This game I was gifted and bought season tickets because of it and forced atleast 8 Sunday’s off. What a ride it has been. Whoa the ups and downs. Get your roll on. I think culpepper was more like Roethlisberger who could run a little, but could only read 1/4 – 1/3 of the field. Denny was a genius/ insert any QB and go. It ain’t the same game anymore. 1/2 the receivers are now like moss then, big, strong, fast. It’s now about the ballet of athleticism vs physical dominance.

Camarokidd2022

Miss watching the GOAT. Randy Moss

Ronald Petetsen

Great memories of watching this team, so many great players on it!!
And please bring back the gloss helmets, the matte finish looks like styrofoam, yuk!!

M R

I still call him “Daunte Quarterback” because the announcer called him that like 3 times in one game lol

LooseMons

Can we bring back this old field design please and thank you ❤. Would love to see a special day where we put these end zones and logo on our turf

    YouTube Algorithmic Safety Board

No thanks. It looks crappy IMO. The end zone looks like they just chalked the field.

Adrianrealmvp

The plays calls and the offense was really advanced for the time

406 ABarbs

Still the greatest uniforms this franchise ever had. The home/away uniforms were perfect. Bring them back!

Anthony Asaiante

Love the uniforms back then. Classic.

The Californian Refugee

That Kelly Campbell catch was something else

Wait, we’ve been searching for a 3 TD a game QB since 2004 and on kirk’s good day we might see 2. But, we don’t appreciate Daunte Culpepper giving us 5 (and Moss usually accounting for 2 or 3 of those TDs)? Ungrateful fan base. Culpepper was so underrated and we’re prisoners of the moment and how quickly we forget.

Rob Michael

Cully was fantastic pre injury.
When we drafted him I was nervous if he’d pan out the way everyone is when a quarterback enters the NFL.
I remember sitting a friend’s house watching a preseason game before he broke out, and he made all the throws to the different levels while going through his progressions. I remember being in awe and looking at my buddy saying, “we finally have ourselves a good young quarterback”.
