This is why they say not to draft an RB in the first rd. They are a dime a dozen in today’s era. You can get good ones in later rds or even undrafted, like Willie Parker, who was undrafted too and was a beast. I’m not saying Najee is a dime a dozen, but if you go O line in early rds you can dominate with later pick RBs. Drafting a guy like Najee with a crap O line is pointless. But you can’t get the great O linemen in later rds like u can RBs

I said they are a dime a dozen in today’s era, and I also said Najee is not a dime a dozen but it’s better to draft great lineman with a good RB than the other way around. Today, great RBs are not as much of a jewel as they used to be. So many spread offenses being ran today, where any solid RB can make a play through big gaps, and quick release passing games on first and third down, not to mention, mobile QBs who fake it to a decent RBs and that RB gets big chucks cause the D commits to the mobile QB. You don’t need to spend a number one pick on a RB anymore. You’re smarter to address other pressing needs and get a solid RB in the 2nd or later rds. Also, teams are scoring more today, due to rules changes, so the days of grinding the clock and keeping the opposing offense off the field, are mostly gone, because those opposing offenses score faster than they used to. Even Tenn, with one of the best RBs ever, can’t get to the Super Bowl the last three years they’ve made the playoffs. RBs used to be rated much higher on the list of worse possible loss to a starting position. right after QB. Then both Corner blind side tackle took its place,

Stop haten on Spillane. He’s the one of the best backup ilb in the league. He doesn’t make mental errors and is always solid. Of course he can’t cover wrs. None of the lbs can. The idea is the line gets home before the wr gets free. It’s a gamble.
