@Jw No, I did NOT say that. If you would reread what I wrote you’d see in there what I DID say. Ultimately I do not think having 3 safeties beat having a solid pass rush who can at the same time clobber the middle run game consisting of atleast 3 down lineman and 2 edge rushers. Having 4 line backers with top end speed to cover anything side to side and fundamental and consistent tackling abilities without assistance. For safety, having 2 split the vertical half of the field staying above the linebackers.

Also, I’d use mark robinson #93 to blitz and take the ball away, because he will without a doubt get that ball. He is a game wrecker and plays with brutal force that no offense wants to get near, so if they want to stay away from him, bring him to where the play starts (QBS hands)

@Jw I’ve said devin bush is a bust from the beginning, so I can understand why you wouldn’t know my stance there. He can’t cover the pass effectively and his tackling couldn’t bring my 110pd sister to the ground.

Yes, obvious pass situations are even more all the reason more IMHO not to have 3 safeties. I get it, some have an idea of what they’d like for the safety to do which would not play safety. My opinion on what a safety is: a coverage man that plays over the top. If the safety is on a blitz scheme then he is no longer a safety because in order to get to the QB in around 2 seconds you’d have to be close to the line. Therefor the offense will know presnap calling an audible or a route change putting even more pressure on the pass rush and the linebackers to cover.

Having a third safety once in a blue moon to mix it up isn’t a bad trial, but I still think being heavy in linebackers is more efficient in the long run.

Linebackers can bull rush through lineman having endless schemes with the lineman. They are as fast as they need to be to defend side to side. The trick is, how we set up forcing the QB to make low percentage throws or to a particular receiver. When we manipulate the game in that sense we are at the same time taking control. Being able to predict where the QB will go sets up a high percentage for turn overs to occur. For example; arid throws or scrambling because his go to guy is covered. In situations like that it’s up to coaches to inform players on the what to do and who gets who at that time. Someone obviously has to be on a man to prevent a late flick to a receiver and one or multiple guys are allowed to pursue the QB with one goal in mind and that is to take that ball away.

I would hope so he’s been in the league for a while haha.
