Not Ha wa ee. Anyway, in layman terms, that’s my example of pronouncing names in Hawaii, but keep in mind that Marcus’ name has a Samoan origin. So Aloha in hawaiian would be talofa in Samoa.

@Drifter Joe Right. But that’s not how DJ Shockley pronounces it. He pronounces it Mare-E-O-ta. Caps are long vowel sound.
Look up “Mare”. A female horse. That is the sound many people incorrectly use. Then they follow that with E-O-ta. Comes out like Mary-O-ta.
That is how DJ Shockley is pronouncing Mariota. It’s the Mary vs. Mari sound that most people get hung up on.

Mariota. Similar to Mario Andrette. But “ta” instead of “Andrette”.

How do people pronounce Tua’s last name. I rarely hear it pronounced correctly. Even professional sports commentators mispronounced his name, but nobody has issues with it because it was not intentional. They just don’t know better. In Hawaii we have a Likelike street. Pronounced Lee k Lee k, but visitors often pronounce it as like like. Kimo Sabe, Lone Ranger’s sidekicks name or in Hawaii…?

@Drifter Joe  I could careless about other nfl teams, I’m strictly talking about falcons. Taking responsibility is good and all but if he making same mistakes and not improving thats on him. Koo missed the kick London fumble I get that but come on this dude missing throws bad.

@dirty birds516 you do also realize that their pass protection aint so hot right? plus ive been following mariota since 2015 and i aint afraid to say yes hes deep passes are not good but he tries to make it up with legs and hes said it himself its not on his receivers that they dont make plays he needs to work on himself. He said in a couple of interviews his deep shot habit is hes trying to put the ball where only the receivers can touch it but he said with the guys he has he just needs to adjust it and put the ball where the receivers can make a play with instead

@TatsuNeeSan808  pass protection run hot and cold I get it, deep passes are 50-50. He just need to relax and play. I never was a fan of his, even at Oregon I was not a fan. This offense fits his skill set like I said before

What have you actually seen of Ridder that makes you believe the whole Atlanta Falcons’ organization are wrong about Mariota being a better choice than Ridder? I’m not talking about the things Mariota needs to fix, but what did you see during all the plays Ridder had during the preseason? Everyone who watched the game saw the same thing you saw. Neither Mariota, Ridder or Frank’s blew the other teams away with their play…
