Steve Wilks: We didn’t give ourselves a chance today
Wilks spoke about Carolina's loss at Cincinnati and fielded questions about the quarterback position.

I would love to see what Sam Darnold could do with this offense. We had the worst offensive line in the NFL last season. That’s changed. His first 4 games for us we’re great. He was one of the top fantasy performers in those weeks. And against Minnesota, his last second drive to tie the game , was incredible. That 4th and ten throw from his own endzone. Spectacular. He gets injured, tries to play through it, and plays terribly. And we don’t give him another chance this season? I don’t understand the logic.
P.S. if you follow his career. No QB has ever outplayed him in a single season on any team he’s ever been on. Look at the record and stats for every team he’s ever played for. College included.

I think that Darnold has potential. He has never had one to believe in him but I think he has great talent. I am not against seeing what Darnold has in the tank.

We faced The most sacked QB in the NFL, Burrow looked comfy in the pocket. Al Halcomb and Ben Macadoo gotta go. We looked like there was no game plan for either side of the ball. PATHETIC PERFORMANCE

The only way to shut down Burrow is to pressure him. If he has too much time to hold the ball, he will eat your defense alive. They need a better pass rush if they want to pickup wins.

Mixon was the Energizer Bunny in there. They didn’t seem to try to stop him at all. 5 touchdowns by the same person shows me that a change needed to be made way sooner. That was embarrassing!

That was a embarrassing lose guys. I was stunned. I’m not sure if Baker made the difference or not. He made plays and more of the passes were caught. I hate to see PJ had such a terrible game. As bad as it was I normally would stop watching but I wanted to see if Baker could do any better. Honestly I’m confused and losing some hope. But I am a Panther fan and want see better days sooner than later. Keep believing in each other.

I’m a Bengal fan and I can tell you Baker is the Bengal killer. If you look at the five best games he’s ever played, at least three of them were against the Bengals. I couldn’t believe the Panthers didn’t start him. He’d be a Hall of Fame lock if he played the Bengals every week.

This one started out rough and it went downhill from there. The defense couldn’t get off the field.
I don’t know if I am in the minority, but I still want to see PJ Walker start in the next game. I think if he cuts down on the mistakes, he has a chance to be better than good.
I know this was a rough game for us Carolina fans, but I hope Wilks gets the chance going forward and that the interim tag gets taken off.

Just say what we’re all thinking coach PJ blew that s*** it was 4 minutes left in the half all they had to do was score one touchdown and defense
Step the f*** up, and go into the half with 7 to 21 start to half with the ball make it 14 21 but what the f*** did PJ do those two interceptions makes it 35 to 0

Wilks is a carolina boy at heart though the difference from here and Arizona is he WANTS to coach here where he’s always been played and coached. He wants this job and with all these issues already one would be stupid to blame him for ANYTHING he brings the right attitude this just needs more time than part of a season.. he is the answer for fixing the head coach problem.. now we need to fix the rest… or atleast work on them rather than start over in some places .. like qb .. we have three good qbs.. we need a better offensive system from up top .. we have a line… foreman and Hubbard dj and others are weapons we need a better coordinator .. mcadoo doesn’t make any sense or play to win games

man I was shocked watching this, especialy this defense.
It really felt like we had no Linebackers on the field all day and watching poor JC trying to tackle Mixon.. oh my. 😞
But we need to move on. It was a trap game, we fell into our own trap. Shrug it off, next game is on, work!
