He is running a playbook that is honestly the right way for a change in detroit. If dan campbell does not fire his friend aron glen then that will cost him his job. Campbell can get the guys to play hard but the scheme on defense is killing his record. Thats my 2cents. I know people are turning on him but EVERY great head coach has had a HOF qb and great co-ordinators on all three sides of the ball. Lets discuss?

    Solo Mo

@Harley Brown it wasn’t him he had to make those decisions because the defense was so horrible he told y’all we need more players we can trust on defense 🤡

    Solo Mo

@Nolan Zeigler he is one of the problems

    Prak Descott

The only thing I’ll say about Glenn, go look at the defensive depth chart, I think any coordinator would struggle to make it work. That’s prob a huge reason they’re stockpiling all the picks and freeing up all the cap space.

    warrensaint

Holmes stays, but AG will be gone after this season and DC gets one more season to prove he’s not just a hype man but an actual HC.

    Juantezzy Colvin

Fire Aaron Glenn? We just scored 30 points in 3 games.

Cameron

Minnesota is in win now mode. They don’t need picks, they need established players. Not that the Lions aren’t trying to win, but let’s face it, we are in win later mode. We need to draft, draft draft, and build for long-term success.

    Thrashman3000

@mick fpmcolo I love your take I just can’t get over the fact we gave a division rival a player like that. You just don’t do that in the NFL that’s why everyone in the league is shitting on this trade.

    jai tikk2

Hock is 25? That makes zero sense good luck ever getting a TE his caliber clowns

    gallopingLake6

A top ten TE that you normally can’t get unless you’re drafting in the first round, and all the Vikings had to was drop about 35 or 38 spots from the bottom of the second round to the top of the 4th. Plus, Hock’s contract will only go about $4 million against their salary cap next year, because Detroit being the team that locked him into a 5th year option will have to be burden with the other $5.9 million against their salary cap.

    Eric Riffel

@Tuna fish 🐠 I totally agree with you, and Hock was supposed to be part of this latest version of the rebuild. All they do is trade away their best players (if they don’t retire early) and start over. The idea of a rebuild is to get a group of good solid players who play well together, and with good coaching can develop into a winning team.

Jaylop97

Brad you got to be real, 2023 is a must for playoff appearance at the very least. This year finishing off 8-9 is the ceiling, while anything below being the floor, and the basement is 3 wins. With 5 picks in the top 100, alongside Jameson, Aidan and Penei, there should not be any below .500 nonsense.

    AlmightyKingClark

@TheDeadice that’s debatable, what have the lions done to make you believe they could be a playoff contending team besides a hard Knocks? Fans was excited but your reaching when you say playoffs. Fans should have a suspicion that Goff will be gone after this season unless he just performs lights out with this team and no way was you expecting playoffs with a rookie QB after Goff.

    scninja07

Keep drinking the blue kool aid. Be happy with 6 or 7 wins next year, then if they make the playoffs, great. Keep expectations low. lol

    TheDeadice

@AlmightyKingClark With the O Line and skill positions we had, and potentially either lots of new talent on defense or a new QB yeah I’d expect a playoff push. Right now we haven’t even seen improvement from last year and if you’re okay with that then idk what to tell you. Holmes and Campbell are gonna be on the hot seat next year if another season just wastes away.

    AlmightyKingClark

@TheDeadice just don’t get how ppl can blame Brad Holmes. If anyone in the lions organization is doing their job it’s absolutely him. Look at all the draft capital and how much money he’s cleared up for the lions to make a legit push at building contenders again. You can be upset about the record and that’s fair but place the blame on the coaching staff that has costed the lions 2-3 games this season. Without those mistakes ppl would be saying the lions have improved from last season.

S. Parks

You’re essentially trading a high 4th round pick for a low 2nd round pick (potentially only moving up only 33 spots). Is my math wrong?

    scninja07

    @NorthOfWindsor AGREE, thank you.

    AlmightyKingClark

@MKY9 then I suggest sticking to what’s growing your bank account? Don’t have a heart attack trying to think critically.

    Mark Talsma

@scninja07 couldn’t have said it better myself. Brock Wright UDFA has shown out at times. James Mitchell just caught his first pass. Gives us more cap space what’s not to like

    Joey Perry

@MKY9 man fontes couldn’t succeed with this decades lions man. as much as I would love him to come back the dude has been out of town he league for decades man. Enough .. the past is the past.

    MKY9

@Joey Perry Fontes beat the tar outta the Cowboys and went 12-4, what team since then has even come close to that??? The 2014 team had great talent but a Subpar QB performance

Camping in the forest

You sent the wrong message to a young team, “hold on, don’t get hurt, we’ll trade you after your rookie deal.” Because what’s wrong with the Lions is a tightwad management style. Don’t pay anyone, fans keep buying tickets and the profit margin is good enough even when they lose

    Jayk

You’d rather us overpay for a tight end who never lived up to expectations?

    Camping in the forest

@Jayk I think he did pretty good considering the team he was on. But it’s cool with me if you think differently

Zac22

As a Lions fan, I hope Hock absolutely torches us in our final meeting with the Vikes this year.

    Thrashman3000

@Solo Mo everyone in the league knows you don’t trade a player of this caliber to a division rival. Especially for that little.

    Solo Mo

@Thrashman3000 you got a bird brain

    Pat Gibson

@Thrashman3000 He hasn’t been the same since the injury in the Chiefs game imo.

    Zac22

@Brent Stack You’re right, if being a “real” Lions fan constitutes never being skeptical, and blindly continuing to support every single decision this team makes, as if any of those decisions has got us anywhere in the last 50 years. Guess I’m not a “real” fan after all.

    Brent Stack

@Zac22 you said you hope he torches us haha. Even Brad Holmes said he wishes him the best, except when he plays us, which is how I feel as well. You weren’t being skeptical, you sounded like you’re getting a Vikings jersey with Hockenson on it 🤣

Isaiah Lucas

I got to say I like how Brad Holmes trades our players to teams with better circumstances that should be appealing to any player in the future

    Korodski

    Respekt

    Detroit Made

Vikes did us a solid giving us pick 12, I’m sure they had an understanding on Hock trade when/if time came. And Stafford to Rams was a good deal. 2nd 1st looking good rn.

    Walkinator

    He’s awful

    branden spica

never thought of it like that, pretty valid point

Tim Chmielewski

I’m not gonna ignore that the lions stink right now… But brad said this is gonna be a three year process… I think the offense even without hock is gonna perform well. Obviously the defense needs the most help… draft picks/cap room are what he needs to address that.. lions finances are dooky cheese and the talent wasn’t there when he arrived. I like the move hocks a great player but stats don’t lie he’s nothing crazy special right now

Cody Leftfield

As hard as this team TRYS, I don’t want to see it blown up! Waiting and waiting more sucks, but even if next year isn’t GREAT, I believe if Dan Campbell is here for a full season next year we will see improvement in the win column, and his 4th year will be the year we see the organization make more moves in free agency. I hate the losing, but I believe THIS group is so much better than the last group as far as hard work and likability. I know faith only goes so far, but I’m sick of seeing new restarts every 3 years! At some point we have to stick with the same group and I believw they will pull it together

    Bryan Farts

    Dan Campbell’s burner account?

rjv23

bad move, if hock wasnt producing, why would the vikings acquire him. picks are hit and miss. the lions need to get a base of established players to move forward. cap is not a problem (seems no one on this team understands cash over cap). how can the chiefs restructure Kelsey’s contract to make cap space but the lions cant. the answers he gave were vague and contradictory. I had faith this would start changing, losing that quickly.

Mazen H

I hope they give James Mitchel the shot at starting TE before Brock. From what I’ve seen James Mitchel might be a guy that can pick-up the slack of TJ and more, faster and bigger.

Johanice Sanchez

Hockenson was never a difference maker. Was he good? Yes. Did we overdraft him? Yes. Van James Mitchell replace and improve on Hockenson’s poor blocking and receiving? Yes.

Andrew B

Don’t worry, Hock will have his best games against us, just like every other player/team.

Devon Peters

I’ve been such a Brad Holmes fan, but I am so confused by this move. Lots of reasons, but simply thinking about the fact that Hock knows the offense so well, why trade in division? And to give up so much draft capital as well…seems like he basically gave up Hock to move up a little more than one round once, maybe twice if the Vikings win a playoff game.

    Jayk

We barely gave up any draft capital. I’ll take a 2nd and a 3rd over hock and 2 4ths(which one of them is conditional) any day

    Devon Peters

@Jayk the 4ths for the Lions will likely be high and the Vikings low. So, even if the 4th drops to a 5th like in an idea scenario, the Lions are probably moving up a round and a half at most. To my understanding, they could’ve received a late 3rd as a compensatory pick AND kept their 4th, so I’m just still having a hit of a hard time seeing the value 🤷‍♂️

Do it Effortless

We’ve been rebuilding since 1957…… the struggle continues 🤷🏽‍♂️💯

chrisput1024

Holmes is giddy. He will likely get most of the “All Injury Team” in the draft this year.

E ddie

They know the off-season & draft season are when Lions fans are the most optimistic so they’re rushing to get there this year 🥺

Michael Kaska

Lions fans have been patient for many, too many years. And now we’re being asked to continue to be patient. At some point this team has to offer us more than unfounded hope. WHEN?

Jayk

I have faith in Brad Holmes. Dan Campbell not so much
