Head Coach Dan Campbell speaks to the media on October 31 – FANTASY FOOTBALL FAN SITE
Mark Meckley

please hire Glover Quinn hes down to teach these young bucks

    Adam B34

@David Brewer they already have that is the point. I think every single coach in Detroit is a former nfl player except Ben Johnson. How is the technique and scheme working out?

    David Brewer

@Adam B34 u have Aaron Glenn a defensive coordinator (where I just said coaching exp is needed) underperformed he is ex player no coordinator xp. Ben Johnson offensive coordinator non X player but a God darn GURU making it happen with X and Os knowledge but showing deficiency because of lack of xp. Then nick Fraley ex player has the o line humming. I forget the LB coach name but he is X player no coaching xp and I’d say doing a good job with 6th round rookie. Randell El wr coach X player no coaching xp doing good with all the wr injuries.. gotta say it’s working for what it’s worth. Coordinators and head coaches is where coaching xp is more valuable

    Adam B34

@David Brewer lol… the oline has fallen back significantly and the LBs are the worst in the nfl. Bro, you are just purely clueless. Out of the coaches you listed the only one succeeding is Ben Johnson WHO ISN’T AN EX NFL PLAYER 🤣🤣😅. You literally just proved yourself wrong, congrats!

    Zachyd23

@Adam B34 Because he’s been coaching high school sports already plus he has years of being a really good safety in the nfl, tell me how that shouldn’t translate to being a good coach on the Lions with the db’s? The current issues are a lack of talent it’s easy to see

    Adam B34

@Zachyd23 wow! High school football! Better hire him immediately! 😅🤣😂

I mean Michael Jordan was the greatest player ever so you tell me how that won’t translate to being a good gm/owner? And Isiah Thomas is a hall of famer so OBVIOUSLY he’d be a great coach right?

I mean look at all the best coaches in the nfl… Andy Reid, Bill Belichick, Matt Lafleur, John Harbaugh, Kyle Shanahan, Sean McVay, Mike Tomlin, Pete Carroll, Sean McDermott etc… they were all great nfl players right? 🤷‍♂️

No One

4:55 great question, need more like this.

    Jonathan

@Snooty Capybara do you honestly think he doesn’t do that or did you think they filmed all those hard knock episodes and all his players are lying about how he communicates on the field and in general. If you don’t think this guy is conveying that message you’re literally crazy. It’s very clear that the person who PERSONALLY COACHES THEM was not conveying that message the right way or teaching them, because why is it that they’re the least physical defensive group we have out there every night? The head coach can only do so much because they have a plethora of other things to worry about, especially with a team with as many holes and injuries and the rest of the job NFL coaches have other than babysitting a specific position group.

    Jake Contos

He was baffled by that question too 😂

    EaZy DuzZlT

@Jackson know one knows what goes down behind closed doors so don’t act like you do, I’m sure there was a good reason they let him go that know one knows about

    EaZy DuzZlT

@JacksonD Campbell shouldn’t have to worry about players lining up wrong either he has more important things to worry about, I mean high school players know to line up right

    EaZy DuzZlT

@Snooty Capybara Dan relays the message the assistant is suppose to make sure their falling in line. Dans got a lot to worry about rather then lining up like coaching a game which we know nothing about

steve O

Pleasant seems a lot like a scapegoat. How much is changing a DB coach is really gonna help. Dan should of fired AG imo

    Mfactor Lives

    @Izzy 777 LOL Exactly

    Darrell Mitchell

@Thomas Watkins you don’t even know that you don’t know…. Please STOP 🤣

    Jimolee's YT

    @Qasim Bazzi for 60 yrs

    Jimolee's YT

@Thomas Watkins Hutchinson will be fine

jtkrevs2

Fired the wrong assistant. It should have been Aaron Glenn.

    joe mckinnon

    Right

    Corey Patterson

    Should be every damn body!!

Andrew Mikkelsen

Aj Parker is problematic. I’d like to see more jerry Jacob’s. Also the safety depth is looking problematic. We kept so many “safety’s” in the initial roster but now can’t find much help there.

    scninja07

Parker was a UDFA last year, and no chance for him to keep up with Waddle/Tyreek. Or for a lot of defenders in this league.

    Scott Smith

@Cordero Thomas THAT WAS ALL ON ANZALONE…who needs to be traded away!!

    Andrew Mikkelsen

@scninja07 for sure we can’t put it all on Parker those Miami wide outs played incredible.

    Richard Craigmiles

@Andrew Mikkelsen yes it was all on Parker every big play they had was on Aj Parker!

    Andrew Mikkelsen

@Richard Craigmiles that’s what I thought! Every time I saw a big catch his Jersey flashes across the screen. If he can’t press then they should have given a cushion. Better to let them dink and dime 30 times than give up explosive plays. Lions never put the other team in position to beat themselves.

Tim Stort

Aubrey Pleasant firing seems like a cop-out to me. He was passionate and cared about the players he coached

    Lionheart

    I agree

    Adam B34

Lol… that’s literally what you say about every single coach on the staff. Literally ALL of them

    EaZy DuzZlT

It’s not about feelings and emotions it’s about productivity

    Sage Antone

I notice you didn’t mention secondary stats.

Ryan Thomas

Immediate gratification I’m 43 years old been waiting my whole life for any gradifcation from this pathetic organization lmao

    Lyle Schull

I’m 70yrs old been waiting 60yrs for something to happen

    Patrick Drawe

    Amen brother and I’m 52!

    Adam B34

Right. These idiots talking about “the need for instant gratification these days” are just old uninformed idiots who think everything was better “back in my day” 🤡. 0 super bowl appearances ever and 1 playoff win since 1958 is somehow not long enough for fans to get fed up according to old heads and their whiny nonsense.

    nakdrofnats99

    agreed

Cordero Thomas

What in the heck is going on with Oruwariye?? He may be nursing an undisclosed injury because he’s playing like crap this season

    Mike Anucinski

Won’t tackle won’t cover he done gave up

    Leyley

    Facts

Mike D

I feel so bad for Dan. I want this to workout so badly but the team is a bunch of bums on defense. The offense falling of at half is more to having 3 possessions 2 of which were littered with drops and penalties

    Ryan Blanche

    Exactly
And their bad defense showed when they couldn’t hold that early 14-0 lead and lost in the end

firebrand07

Looks like DC is showing he is starting to fire as an option to motivate

Cory Garcia

Tough decision – but I agree with the call from the perspective that this is the worst room on this team.

I don’t see this as anything other than a change being made because it was needed.

Is Pleasant a good coach. Judging the results prior to this season – yes. This season…were his guys producing as a unit – no. Were they on the field and competitive – no. Has there been evidence of regression from a player by player standpoint – yes. Too many bad performances stacked up – It’s a shame.

Pleasant deserves another shot in the NFL and I suspect he will find his success.

That being said I hope this room finds it’s success because I would hate to see more folks looking for work elsewhere.

Yumi Tokushige

Because pay is great, he’s (able to) sticking to the job in a way. Maybe he wants to quit but the owner or team doesn’t let him. What a job. I don’t like they are defeated though or when they have done well. That’s nothing but 💩.

Itinerant Patriot

Campbell on the Lions secondary: “I think they’re good enough to help us compete and win.” Really? To quote Chris Carter: “Come on man!” If you do believe that Dan, then you truly are in over your head. But I don’t think you actually believe that. Sometimes, when addressing a weakness in public, it’s best just to say as little as possible and move on. The guys back there don’t need pumping up. After a game like that and their coach getting fired they ought to be nervous about their own job security. I know those receivers are good but that looked like Alabama taking on the local junior high team yesterday. I’ve watched this team for a long time and I have to dig back pretty far in the memory bank to think of a game where two guys just lit up the secondary the way those guys did. What was it, close to 300 yards between the two of them? Granted, Tua had enough time to call in a carry out order on some of those plays but that display yesterday was gawd awful. Wanna send a message? Start raiding other teams practice squads now. Maybe that’ll wake em up. Oh well. onto GB right?

    Sage Antone

    Chris Carter is a clown.

phil bradley

Actions speak louder than words.

    Jimolee's YT

Yeah Dan needs to take his own advice.

Richard Holmes

Lining up off side made the lions secondary a national joke. It showed a failure in discipline. A coach pays for these mistakes.

Leftwingloc19

The major problem D line…
Are CB’s aren’t fast..
So D line or LB’s must get pressure..Cb’s
In turn CB’s MUST jam at line
Why are CB’s playing so far back?
JAM at Line
Please
Getting safety time
adjust ….
6.5 sacks…4.5 from a rookie…D line
The problem

Don Lee

I know Aaron Glenn is a close friend of DC but c’mon. What good is that friendship if you both end up getting fired when you know the best solution for everyone involved is to fire Glenn and get an experienced DC. It’s a tough decision but you have to make it.

R Mansour

Pleasant can only coach what he has and the entire secondary flat out stink. Hard to coach below average to mediocrity. There’s a reason why Jacobs and Parker were undrafted. None of these corners ever turn their head to locate the ball either. The entire secondary needs a complete overhaul. I hope Holmes does his scouting

Todd Starks

Remember those words Dan “ Production based business”.

I love Dan’s passion and love for his players and the organization, but-unfortunately, his time here is running out. Look.. players gotta play. It’s not all on the coaches. But being a business he’s got to win some games, even if the season is over.

I predict a mid season fire next year when we start off horrible as always. We’ve been “rebuilding” every year for decades. I also stand by Goff. Guy just needs help. He’ll be fine. I say go out and get Gruden.

Jordon David

Not throwing a challenge in Dallas when they called a interception on a incomplete pass was shocking.

    J.K. Hinneburg

The replay showed nothing that would overturn the call on the field.
