Roughing the Passer Controversy.
What controversy?
The game is a farce and unless this issue is fixed the game is basically ruined, roughing on brady, spare me.
Yeah that call was rediculous, too. Everyone is going to want to be a QB because the rules protect them far more… And Who is going to want to watch when no one is able to improvise with QBs (2 hands on QB means he is down right?,..can’t tackle him down………….). Man Lamar is going to be dangerous in this league…Every1 is afraid to tackle him if they can catch him.
@Chatwheel Only this ultra protection of the QBs has been going on for quite some time, way too annoying, you just know at some critical point a player is going to make a great play and the ref is going to totally f ck it up, makes the game totally lame.
@Steven Baer Agreed, how things are going.. 2 hands on the qb means they are downed… if you can not tackle them they shouldn’t be allowed to improvise like Mahomes, Josh Allen, Lamar, Russell. Then what? Just because one Neurologist cleared a qb to play in Miami, the whole league is going to be hyper sensitive. Hits are going to happen, in a contact sport. A Neurologist said the recovery procedure is far more important than protective measures.

A contact support giving a QBs a free pass to play flag football in a contact game…Man I would be pissed if I am a defensive back, offensive tackle, wide receiver, cornerback, or half-back. They give their bodies for their craft but QBs are “more valuable”. I think some of the great plays Mahomes is known for (improvising) can’t do now if he is considered “down” if DBS get both hands on them.
At this stage Lingerie Football is starting to look rougher than the NFL!

Jeez, might as well call roughing the passer on every single run Lamar does, while you’re at it. How do those refs still have a job after those calls? They were *insanely* bad.

saw an “unnecessary roughness” call, upon the quarterback where the passer was swung around, and fell by himself. 15 yd, first down. i still hate colored stripes.on the field, when the game is televised. no field measurements speeds it up, a bit- but this is pathetic. not at all what it’s about. combat
The slo mo of adams shoving is misleading; in real time that’s a serious high velocity shove. NFL’s network knows exactly what they’re doing here. And rapport’s excusing of adams is shameful

In the 2019 AFC Championship game the Patriots won the coin toss for overtime, then march right down the field and scored a touchdown. Winning the game. “The Chiefs proposed an overtime rule change in March 2019 that would guarantee each team get the ball in overtime. That proposal garnered little support, and the NFL owners didn’t even vote on it. A rule change needs to be approved by 24 of the league’s 32 owners, and it was clear that threshold would not be crossed.” The national media had a dim view of this proposal.
Mar 30, 2022 NFL changes overtime playoff rules in wake of Chiefs-Bills thriller. Bills lose (East Coast media now support change!). If a media darling team suffers a major defeat on a questionable roughing the passer call, then the cry will go out for change! Change will happen.
One of those oddities of history, the Bills originally opposed the change, which hurt them in the playoff game; while the Chiefs wanted the change (which didn’t happen) and may have gotten advantage from it. 😂
Ian rapaports arguments are so weak. According to his logic, a quarter back shouldn’t even run then, as if he runs and steps awkwardly he will tear a ligament and we need to protect our qbs. So, he should just stand there and no one should even charge at him.
How else was he supposed to tackle him and make this outstanding play
I agree with you. People get senile on behalf of Tom Brady with the refs assistance.
If the qb is to be protected he should not be able to run out of the pocket.

Alot of these bad calls being made towards certain teams has the NFL looking pretty shady right now.This is what happens when NFL gambling sites!!
Or that punt where the raiders convinced the ref to throw a late flag, only for the ref to go out and say “there is no foul on the play”

I get it….this is NFL Network so how much can these non-defensive NFL players honestly say about this rule. Other than putting flags on the QB, or spooning him softly to the ground, what are these players supposed to do? Ian Rappaport is now banking the new bonus he received from Roger for being almost completely ridiculous. Blessings to you all!!!
