What were some Takeaways from the Chargers win over the Browns in Week 5? – FANTASY FOOTBALL FAN SITE
WittleJJ

Analytics tells you to go for it, but it doesn’t tell you what play to run. A lot of the times it’s been bad play call on those situations rather than the fact that they went for it.

@Evan Nina I agree, that should’ve been called for pass interference

    BOLT UP BABY!

Exactly! With Sean Payton breathing down his neck if Staley doesn’t make the AFC Championship game THIS YEAR the owners should kick Staley to the curb ONLY if Payton takes the job.

    BOLT UP BABY!

    @B T Yep! Been a fan for 45 years… FIRE LOMBARDI!

    Amir Abdullah

    This is a good comment

I have never liked going for it like this. They are just lucky the field goal was missed.

Shiba Inu Des

Chargers WON! Would’ve, could’ve, should’ve doesn’t matter! they WON! Next game please…

    jack rosado

Lmaoooo that attitude is exactly what is gonna keep y’all out the playoffs while you waste another talented QBs career.

    Tazzy TY

@jack rosado facts and I’m a chargers fan

    Shiba Inu Des

    @jack rosado time will tell..

JBUZ D

My opinion, I liked the decision, the aggressiveness is something this team needs and I liked odds a against this teams defense, by the way it should of been a Pass interference against Mike.

    Luis Fernando Araiza

THANK YOU. Finally someone who understands!

    pat pat

lol it was a horrible decision and they got incredibly lucky

_Azula

They called a time out first so he probably asked his offense if they wanted to go for it and the offense probably said yes. So it feels good to have a coach that supports and believes in his players enough to let them go for it and support their decision.

    jack rosado

Yea no, that’s a hard no, if you asked your offense if they wanted to go for it they’d say yes every time. It’s the head coaches job to protect them from themselves, there’s believing in your players then there’s pure stupidity.

    arthur douglas

As a coach you don’t ask your players

    pat pat

Clearly they need to draft smarter players.

Just wishing I could watch this game unfold, just like the chargers one on TV. I’ve felt almost helpless with the game on just the radio or with score updates. NFL hating on the browns this year and limiting their viewership of those games on purpose it seems.

Dog On It

Brown’s had NO TIMEOUTS, 1:14 left on the clock … Chargers had the chance to pin Cleveland deep in it’s own territory with their excellent punter. Analytics told Chargers to go for it on 4th and 2? .. and risk leaving the Browns a short field for a field goal? Horsepoop on analytics!

    Orange Crush2.0

There is no chance that the analytics Saif to go for it and give them a short field. If the Browns didn’t do browns things then it would of been a even shorter kick. Chargers got bailed out plain and simple.

thekellenator

“Are you that terrified of jacoby brisset driving down the field?” THEY SCORED 28 POINTS and missed another FG before! Should’ve been 31! This is wild lol. How are we talking about this? The analytics literally worked out again… a FG kicker missed a kick what a shocker.

    pat pat

    Analytics definitely don’t support that.

Iawesomeian

It was the right call but a bad play that’s why they didn’t convert. The browns were pretty much driving down the field at will so Staley wanted to end it

    pat pat

it was definitely not the right call

Mattew Gillenberg

Never a dull moment with Staley. His decisions have effectively altered my dopamine receptors.

    Jason Pacific

    Hilarious 😂😅

Hey Pal

My question is if you’re going for it why not run it? You’ve been running so well and you want the clock to keep running

captin 08e

The flow of the game also said to go for it mike W was beating his CB all day long and the browns kicker was very inconsistent everything said go for it

    Luis Fernando Araiza

You’re right. I would’ve gone for it but I would’ve gave it to Eckler straight up the middle or. Sweep. Or even having Herbert to a QB sneak but he’s not 100 percent yet

    pat pat

Except, ya know, logic and numbers. Basically everything.

kalob federico

I mean in his defense that was an obvious dpi that should have gave them a first down and I think that’s why Herbert threw it that direction in the first place

    Ill06Taco

    This!!!

    Orange Crush2.0

That play was never working regardless of where he went 🤣🤣 Williams was blanketed.

Pete Dog

The Browns tackling… “They cannot grab your flag, if you do the spin move.” Best ever!

Mike Austin

From an analytics standpoint, no single play costs you the game. Sacks, turnovers, dropped passes, shanked punts, blown coverages, penalties, officiating mistakes, and much more all contribute equally to the outcome of the game. *Every single play* contributes to the outcome of the game. That’s why we watch the games and not just the highlights.

G Clan Hawaii

At the moment I hated the decision but they won. It makes since once you think of it, give Herbert a chance to win the game with a pass to Williams. Make their rookie kicker who already missed hit a long clutch fg to beat you.

    pat pat

doesn’t make it a good decision

Orange Crush2.0

Main takeaway is that the Chargers were way too overhyped this year. I see them missing the playoffs again unless a few teams have a epic meltdown.

kwirk

The Chargers previous 2 coaches were very conservative, “gut” guys who more often than not played not to lose than go for the win and it drove us fans nuts. As long as Staley keeps winning by this method I won’t care

Manny King

WHAT ABOUT THE PASS INTERFERENCE THAT WAS NOT CALLED ON THE DB DEFENDING MIKE WILLIAMS?!!!! As u can see Staley knew the refs were trying to give Cleveland the win! Remember the Chargers were favored by 1. Staley wanted to end the game! Good for him!!

Jason Pacific

Scary play when Browns have no timeouts left. My heart said kick it ! Then again we don’t want another coach who plays to not lose 🌠

    pat pat

    That was playing to lose.
