They can’t hold back the fire building in Detroit forever. These guys are going to improve massively this year. Add to all that improvement another grand slam 2023 draft. The division is ours next year.
Right on brother. I think the future is so bright too. But the only thing that frustrates me right now is that we would be a good team already—and still with all those pics coming next year—if we just improved our linebacking corps. Rodrigo is awesome, but Barnes and Anzalone are so bad I almost can’t believe it. And they’re gonna continue to be the Achilles’ heel of an otherwise good defense with real teeth at the other levels if we don’t get Rodriguez some help at that position group. They are the weak link. Otherwise—this is a good team NOW! (But I fully agree—after another monster draft, we’re gonna be top tier!). I absolutely think it’d be worth it to trade one of our higher picks next year (2nd or 3rd+another) for an excellent stack backer in his prime. Or that’s gonna sink the season
I live in Columbus GA. At the sports bar I regular at I’m always screaming “Touchdown, Detroit Lions!” Because that’s what I grew up listening to Dan Miller yell every Sunday. He’s the absolute best at what he does. I’d rather listen to him than anyone who happens to be on the TV come game time.

Our linebacking corps cost us that game. Right up to the end of the 4th quarter, where another Barnes missed tackle prevented us from getting the ball back to tie it einbthe game. Rodriguez is great, but Anzalone and Barnes are absolutely horrific. Anzalone is so bad it’s sane. And Barnes is the king of missing tackles, & it’s always at the absolute worst moments. They’re such a weak link (on an otherwise good defense w/ real teeth at the other two levels) that if we don’t shake up that position group & get Rodrigo some help, it’s gonna cost us several more winnable games this year

If only we had a QB spy on hurts for most of the game to contain him especially on that touchdown run. It would have been incredible to win that game 🙁
Any other QB or refs that knew what intentional grounding was and lions win this game. Hurts just was running all over the place and doing what he wanted

Right. They hardly ever give Lions the calls when they’re being held. When a Detroit D-lineman has his man beat, the refs are always just let em hold all day long mosta the time. F#%kin sux

So proud of our boys and Campbell & his staff, but we simply have GOT to do something about our linebacking corps, man. Rodrigo is a flat out beastmaster in cleats, but he’s it. All we got. Besides him, it’s the only big hole at a position group we still have. I do t think I’ve ever seen Anzalone get off a block. And Barnes specializes in missing tackles at the absolute most critical times. Teams are just gonna continue to key on those two w/ their fun fits and isolation coverage all year, and exploit that gaping hole in our D to the fullest. If Rodrigo had ANY real help…our defense would have some serious teeth on each level. But he can’t do it all, man. We need a trade for a badass stack backer in his prime, regardless of the cost. Or it’s gonna keep costing us winnable games all season. Another Barnes missed tackle cost us any chance to tie or win at the end.
