It’s going to come down to defense. Offense will be playoff worthy. They were one of the worse defenses in the league last year, so they’d need to jump up to inside top 10 to I’d say actually be a super bowl contender, which is unlikely. I’d give them a wild card birth this year though with a chance to make the divisional round

As a Vikings fan I think you could consider them NFC contenders but only because the NFC is pretty wide open for anyone to take, the AFC is much more difficult this season in my opinion.
All 4 afc west teams are play off contenders
no team since 2000 has given up more points 2 minutes before halftime and before the end of games than the vikings last season. that’s why it doesn’t make sense to lay the blame at the feet of cousins. with the additions they made in the offseason, a division without davante adams, khalil mack, and a weakened conference, yeah the vikings are contenders

It’s weird, other teams pay a QB a bunch of money to make up for a bad defense (Mahomes), a bad O-Line (Wilson). Kirk Cousins gets paid to not be the only reason the Vikings lose. Every time Kirk gets criticized here come Stan the Fan to say, “he’d win if everything around him was perfect, so don’t blame him”.

One thing that eats me is every year we talk about our offense but we have lost games scoring 28 points or more. Our defense has always been a flaw. We blame our kickers (though they do always miss when it counts) we never truly have had a consistent Strong defense. We had star players but never a solid unit
