Well you can’t actually lateral forwards, but I get the point.
Nor can you kick the ball forward and keep possesion. And you must start the ball going backwards before you go forward…. and only under rare circumstance can the ball hit the ground and continue to be moved forward

@Nathaniel Wrigley you can kick the ball and move forward it’s called a punt. If the punt receiver drops the ball on the receiving catch (he touches it) and the punting teams player picks it up and gets tackled they keep it
@Blixston and if nobody touches it do you get to keep the ball or advance? No. So you are relying on the other team to make a mistake. And even under that one circumstance, where all those things line up perfectly, you still can not advance the ball forward (at least on kickoffs) and god forbid you kick the ball into the part of the field youre supposed to in order to score, cause then the ball starts traveling backwards…. so please get out of here with your semantics.
goalkeepers throw the ball forward,can run with the ball forward.same as qtr backs,everyone is passing the ball forwards.i dont get this at all.you can only throw the ball forward once as well.

I have always loved the NFL passionately since I was kid never played football but played soccer through college and I only really watch big games and the world cup in the NFL I watch multiple preseason games a week

In literally every other football you are allowed to kick the ball, run forward or pass it. This might be the worst nonsense ever posted by this channel.
As a defender you’re also free to physically destroy the guy “moving forward”…don’t forget that part
