    Yeah, and many fans and the media, for whatever reason, seem to expect him to become an All-Pro overnight because of his speed. It was clear when the Browns drafted him that he would need time to develop. He is in his SECOND year after an injury-filled first year. He was a 3rd round pick by the Browns who understood it will take time for him to develop.

I was PRAYING that Baker’s big mouth would give our team SOMETHING to use as bulletin board material before our week one matchup. I just KNEW that he wouldn’t be able to keep his mouth shut, and I was right (although that sideline reporter is definitely a rat…and if Baker gets embarrassed by our defense week one, he’ll probably never speak to that woman again as his comment was clearly meant to be just between the two of them and she spread it ALL OVER THE MEDIA the very next day).

This franchise hasn’t won an opening day game IN SEVENTEEN FREAKING YEARS, and the only time Baker plays like an actual NFL QB is when he feels like he has some kind of “chip on his shoulder”. So as a Browns fan, I thought our week one prospects were pretty dim. I’m not saying that Baker making that comment is going to change the entire outcome of the game…but those kinds of things DO actually make a difference in pro sports, and your mouth writing a check that your arm can’t cash is something that Baker has been doing for YEARS now in the NFL. His play on the field hasn’t matched his mouth since his rookie season.

Hopefully the guys in our locker room hear what Baker said and take note of it. It seems clear to me that a segment of our locker room actually likes Baker (mostly the guys who were here in 2018 when he was drafted), and a segment of our locker room DESPISES him (John Johnson very clearly HATES Baker, although he has no room to talk because IMO he’s been TRASH since we signed him and we thought we were getting a top-3 safety when he joined the team). The good news is that it seems like it is mostly our DEFENSIVE players who can’t stand Baker…and they are the ones who are going to have the opportunity to embarrass him in week one. Here’s hoping they don’t waste that opportunity!!!

    Also, 17 years and no wins is by design. No one can consistently lose that much. The odds don’t allow for them to be that bad that long organically. It’s entertainment. Enjoy it but I recommend not to get overly invested.

    He will be schemed to run and affect the defense to open it up underneath. If they dpn’t respect it and ignore him and allow him to run free and he then drops a deep ball??? Then heads can roll. But to run go routes and be wide open and catch balls for tds? We’ll see. But no one else can run a 4.2 so he cut him some slack.

    The bigger risk is him getting sidelined from soft tissue injuries etc.

This season we finally get a good glimpse of what this season will look like under Stefanski. Covid his Rookie year went well and last seaon the drama with Baker and OBJ, I’m really excited for some normal football. Hopefully they can navigate this Deshaun situation gracefully.
