Sam has always been a professional that never changes. But he’s a little too stiff personality wise and Baker came in and the fans just love them and you can see what the differences between him and Sam.
Respect Sam! Way to stay professional and keep your head up!
What a class act
Tough this is the 1st time Sam’s had to compete. Baker always had to compete for a starting position & usually as the underdog; TX Tech, OU, and Hugh Jackson made it real difficult in Cleveland for the Browns (who have ruined many QB’s careers). Baker was the #1 pick, but started as QB3 & not allowed to even practice with the starters or compete for the starter job. When Tyrod Taylor went down, Baker was inserted close to the end of the 1st half. Browns were losing (14-0) as they had every game for 2 seasons (1-31).
Baker stepped onto that field & took charge of the players & game. They won 1st game in over 2 seasons and then went on to winning games & fans having hope again.
Baker just has that “it” factor & moxey with leadership skills that make players want to play their best, and believe they can win games.
Sam is a class act and has improved his game with a competitive positive QB room, but Baker has what can turn a losing team around.
A lot of respect for both these guys & how they handled this competition & the example they set for the rest of the team. This will help them both in future jobs. 👏🏈🙄

Sam is a better starter than QBs out there right now. He just has to get into the right situation for him and his play style. The horrendous monstrosity that was our O-line didn’t help him out, as well as his choice of throws at times, but he’s young and is better tham what Seattle’s got, I’m my opinion. I would love to see home compete with Davis Mills (maybe next year).

Couldn’t have had a better QB to battle against in Darnold. Class act dude, let’s the team feel solid about the fact that there was competition but no foul smell.
Its good for him to have a back seat, the pressure is off his back and that’s a big opportunity if Baker doesn’t get the W’s. I still wanted him to have a chance without the injuries, an improved roster and a some what upgraded o-line before bringing in another QB. Respect Sam for being a professional.
