Two self inflicted turnovers lost this game for the Lions. The starting O looked phenomenal, but even 2 field goals by the backups win this game. Bet that’s the subject of the next group meeting.

Offensively there’s not much to complain about, but this was a bad defensive effort.

Because the fringes of these fanbases cannot see how terrible either team actually is.
They don’t want to believe they will be picking top 5, but the Lions offense is literally an injury on the offensive line away from that even today.
The Falcons are kind of interesting in that they are in total rebuild mode and some of these unknowns might develop into more.
But by and large, you’re spot on.

Our Front 7 in ATL looks a lot more inspired Game 1. I’d like to see our coverage improve a lot more before the season. Offensively, Mariota showed TONS of explosiveness that will allow for a lot more creativity in the offense. Ridder showed lots of poise for a rookie. Glad to get the dub and sooooo happy football is back. Rise Up! 🔴⚫

@SonOfDumas I was at the game. Mariota and Ridder sliced up the D. Those types of QB’s will be difficult for the Lions to overcome.

Just a ton of drops that make Ridder look worse than he actually was. Realistically speaking he was fine

@Jake_RG there were 2 dropped interceptions too. i like ridder, but he’s not ready for #1 qb on any nfl team yet. he needs time, and mariota also needs to have his time as a starter. they both deserve this respect.
Ridder looked like Kap, knifing through the middle with long strides. Lions 1st team was crisp, linebackers looked slow to diagnose forcing too many tackles to the secondary to pickup the slack. Elliot was a sledge hammer. I’d like to see Malcom Rodiguez get into the starting lineup he seems like one of the few Lions LB’s who can actually read plays and close distance.

I’ve tried to tell folks all off season…When you have a Mobile QB it helps the O-Line and Running game.
The offense looks to be way ahead of schedule and hard for defenses to deal with
This has been the best I seen the running game look in a long while. Algier looked strong running the rock…the o-line opened nice holes.
The back door QB stuff will eventually slow down the rush and the passing game will pick up.
The Falcons scored a TD on the opening drive and Pitts didnt catch not one ball and wasnt even targeted.
They had atleast 3 offensive penelties and overcame all of them…not to pick on Ryan but they would have punted if he was the QB in those situations.
It looks like the Falcons are going to be very good in the Red Zone this yr.

Look around the League man. Buffalo couldnt run the ball at all..Their QB was ther running game….Chiefs O-line sucked…Mahomes make ls them look better…

Bro. Take it from me. I completely agree with you on the mobility point.
But the Lions back 7 is historically bad here. They cannot tackle or cover. They are literally going to surrender 1500+ yards down the middle this year.
Matt Patricia, as bad as he was, understood the importance of protecting that area. The Lions are not even close to being suitable there.
Don’t see this as me taking away from the Falcons. I still believe you guys finish with a better record and love your pov.
But telling you from a Detroit perspective this defense is among the worst in the middle you will ever see on an nfl field.

I liked how Detroit Lions and Jared Goff played in their only drive. Lions are going to have an explosive offense this season. Nice exhibition preseason game. Honolulu Blue and Silver to the top.

that is a tight and strong offensive line.
No Matt Ryan = New adventure for Falcons fans. It is refreshing to see a QB who can run. Yes, the rebuild will take time, but change is good.
@Slimkidd730 matt did nothing for atlanta for the last 3 years it can sometimes be better to have a mobile qb marcus performed way better than matt this game plus matt is not as athletic as Marcus
@Slimkidd730 as much as I love Matt he wasn’t able to do anything in ATL, tbh they held him back. And while yes mariota isn’t as accurate as Ryan it’s not because he’s a running QB. For all we know Ridder could have the athleticism of Mariota and accuracy of Ryan, obviously that’s optimistic but that’s the point in saying that it’s a new adventure, anything can happen including success we didn’t even achieve with Matt.
Of course, all time falcons fan but glad to see we have someone new

For real i got sick of matt ryan so called “matty ice” just sitting in the pocket taking sacks. A good quarterback should be able to throw and scramble when need to.
