If he proves himself the next couple years he’ll get his big contract. Omar with a genius deal.

    Eskeetit Litty

Also allows time for the obvious and the development in the new wide receivers in hopes one can step up and be a true number one.

    Luis D

@Jay I think it will all depend on how Chase Claypool performs during those 2yrs.If he flops chances increases with Diontae resigning again.

    Domanik

@Jay I love George and Calvin but they still gotta prove themselves

    Michael Ball

Every Steelers fan should be happy. This is a great deal for both parties

    Nathan Tewkesbury

*My thinking is GM Khan is back at the table in 2024 with Johnson with 1 year remaining on the deal. He would be 28yrs age with 5 years playing in Pitt and 2024 as his 6th season and final year on this contract.
I think they could easily extend him by then with Claypool most likely not on the team anymore. Could give him another 2 year extension which would put him thru the 2026 season and 8 years playing in Pittsburgh*

Him and George Pickens are gonna kill it this year

    Grant

receiver group is looking great, don’t forget about Claypool and Austin III

    Queen Nitra

    Absolutely! πŸ’―πŸ–€πŸ’›πŸ–€πŸ’›πŸ–€πŸ’›

Alot has been said about this young man but that bottom line is there is he can play! And with the addition of these exciting rookies combined with the rest of the weapons on this team, there are going to be some serious mismatches for opposing defenses to deal with!

Nathan T

He earned a lot of respect in my book. Seems like a genuine good guy.

    Sumswag Gaming

hes always been that way, i remember when he was a rookie and just watching in videos how he was interacting and being an open ear to everything people was telling him. 3rd rnd pick.

    Michael Ball

He’s a great Steeler. We should be proud

Keith lamont

Diontae is an awesome dude….I’m happy for him! πŸ˜ƒ πŸ™‚

John M

I’m so happy for my guy. I never once turned on this man he is humble, he works hard, and he’s actually a very good player. Hopefully he has that burden of getting paid off his mind and he can flourish moving forward.

Bin Steez

He’s one of the most mature receivers we’ve had in a while that’s been really productive. I’m happy we resigned him

    Toa Salavea

He better show off this year!

djj

Congratulations Dionte!!
He truly loves being a STEELER!!!
Respect! πŸ’―

Richard Gonzales

A very smart person props to you thanks for being a true STEELER

blackenedmartyr

Love DJ. Seems like a humble guy. He was super kind to me when I met him and I’ll always been a fan because of that.

PAIZ

Glad to have him! Happy we broke the trend and brought a top tier guy back. We deep this year! Go Stillers!

    Jerome Edwards

I agree with you, he didn’t become a distraction and let the process work. He’s very humble. I really hope he has a great year.

Jon Mangless

The most UNDERRATED WR in the NFL. Humble, hardworking and EXTREME TALENT. Love Diontae. Amazing day for the Steelers

    Shoshone Sasquatch

When he can hold onto the ball….

    xConceptz1

@Shoshone Sasquatch lowest drop rate of any wide receiver and is better with more consistent hands than several receivers who got paid way more than him this offseason

    Shoshone Sasquatch

@xConceptz1 I know his production took a big hit because ben wasnt anywhere near the qb he used to be. But diontae has dropped some game changing passes, including the few times Ben would throw it over 30 yards he usually passed it to diontae and 2/3 times he would drop it. It’s just like most ppl wouldn’t consider juju a fumbler, except juju has fumbled a few HUGE games away so he is considered a choker/fumbler to most steeler fans. It’s not always about the consistency, sometimes what defines you is how you play in big moments under pressure.

    Jon Mangless

@Shoshone Sasquatch Diontae puts the work in though. He gets better every year. We gave him less than money than say a guy like DJ Moore who is very talented but never even made a pro bowl. You pay Diontae because you bet on his development, and work ethic. This is a great thing for the Steelers my friend

    Shoshone Sasquatch

@Jon Mangless I really really hope diontae does good. I’m a huge steelers fan and love how well we draft wrs. It is a gamble paying him. I think at this point it’s worth it because he has such talent. I just hope he improves in big moments in big games. I’m also hoping Claypool steps his game up too. They both have SOOOO much talent and skill I just don’t think they are very situationally aware. And honestly at least a good part of that is coaching. We will see. Let’s go pitt! πŸ’›πŸ–€πŸ’›πŸ–€

AFCsteel

I had no idea he was so humble. They need more of that.

Andres Villalobos

This man need to be the leader of that WR room. Took a good deal that allows him to get a potential larger deal while he’s still in his prime.

viviandarkbloom100

outstanding deal for both the team and DJ. impressive young men. Omar and DJ. The Steelers are in great hands. TJ, Cam, Minkah….a ton of leadership on this team.

Kristopher Murphy

Love all the moves Khan has made so far!! Steelers low key building a dynasty

Russell Frederick

That Steelers loyalty seems contagious… Greatest organization in All of sport. .”He trusted his gut”. He’s dynamic and ready to win.

Kevin Boehning

Congratulations Diontae! Love his talent and humbleness and he believes in the Lord! Mad respect for him after watching this! So glad we kept him! Go Steelers! πŸ–€πŸ’›πŸˆπŸ»

WE NEED Christian Men like this on the team.

barrett anderson

This is the type of player you want to keep around. A player’s mentality is the most underrated thing in football. You want maturity and leadership, especially at the diva positions. I’m glad we got him for what we did.
